Honestly, I find it weird how every protagonist is trying not to disturb the main story. Damon is a child who is probably going to have a very sad childhood. You saved him from it, and now you want to put him back knowing this? Yes his story would not be going according to plan if you kept him with you, but would that truly be a bad thing?
She's not weak because she doesn't go against her mother's wishes! Her mother is manipulating her into feeling bad for her, it probably happened a lot so she instinctively believe her. That's manipulation, not weakness.

I always find it weird when an enemy takes a loved one's apparence and the hero just gives up fighting because of it. You don't want to hurt this person, but you are also 100% certain it's not the actual person, and fighting them won't hurt you loved one! It's just gonna keep you alive!
