He gave the fox and child compensation, well all of them in their own ways after this incident. The MC has a sense of innocence when it comes to relationships since he's lived many years but don't underestimate him he's lived longer than ml, don't baby him too much. Yeah, Taehee isn't usually the type of character that I like, since he is manipulative and shady. I did start liking him after his backstory, as it gave us the reason why he is the way he is now. One thing to take note of is Taehee is not as omniscient or malicious as he comes across. He can be clumsy and ignorant just like Jaegyeom is. He can make mistake or error in judgement. His manipulative side isn't inherent to him, more like coping mechanism he has built as he is more comfortable with spirits than humans.

I can't help but relate with @candy except for the part where he tried to manipulate the ginseng child as ml was trying to deescalate the situation so the child wouldn’t get cut down like a tree since he planned freeing the ginseng child from the exorcists soon while knowing the exorcist agency will treat the child well if he complies during the short time frame the child will stay there. But yeah I don’t like the ml either, slimy as fuck while also acting like he’s above everyone else and the fact we have to take his side since he is the one leading the charge to take down the exorcists because the exorcists are even more morally bankrupt. I haven’t read the novel so I may be wrong but following the plot line the ml probably is going to have some tragic backstory and somehow be the reincarnation of mc’s teacher while the teacher will also have tragic reason to hurt mc make readers and mc feel sympathy and explain his actions to mc but thats no excuse to hurt and treat others poorly especially the mc while we don’t know any justifiable reason at this point of the story. If ml dislikes exorcists because they are twisted then he should really look at himself too. He may not be as terrible as the other exorcists, but still an asshole for no good reason when he could’ve been more earnest and genuine while pursuing the same goal. Also has he even tried to share his viewpoint with others. Like not one attempt and then give up at the first sign of rejection, I mean an earnest attempt to actively change exorcists since he seems to be born with the talent to have the privilege to interact with the spiritual world with such mastery when it’s clear that many exorcists are born without much talent to perceive the spiritual world in such clarity making them more hostile to spirits and grapple around doing anything to survive since they can’t interact with spirits as well as the mc or ml because they don’t have the power to do so (this may be wrong and all the exorcists could just be human chauvinists taking advantage of all spirits whether or not they could actually interact with spirits without fear since they don’t have much spiritual power, but that seems so bland since that generalizing a whole group of people just being twisted for the sake of being twisted without a solid reasoning other than selfishness). Still hate the exorcists who tried to hurt the ginseng child because cutting anyone’s (spirit or human) ankles is going to hurt and they didn’t even need the ginseng child but only wanted the child for sheer greed though.

Also why tf these two people ganging up on @candy for expressing their opinion when their opinion doesn’t seem to unreasonable baffles me (yes this is targeted to @tim butt toe and @eiby). Like I get it if @candy said something wrong/problematic, but expressing dislike for a character that is suppose feel untrustworthy by the author doesn’t seem worthy of such vitriol. Like asking for someone’s age is so demeaning and pretentious because clearly @time butt toe implies that @candy is immature and unable to comprehend the writing unlike @tim butt toe who must be so much more mature and wiser. Like what point is @tim butt toe is trying to prove by asking for someone’s age otherwise? Also just requoting @candy’s response to act as if it is solid evidence while trying to control how someone consumes media and then mentioning a previous comment about how @candy doesn’t want them to kiss when honestly I relate since I feel like their relationship is not close enough to have a meaningful kiss unless the novel proves me otherwise. But for now I think based on how 44 chapters in and mc is barely tolerating the guy I can’t help but feel the kiss is going to happen due to some contrived situation which is a plot device that I personally don’t like in romance. And then @tim butt toe just saying @candy is “backpedaling” when in the first place tim butthurt started this argument while not even providing a sufficient reason why they disagree other than childish remarks like: “how old are you” and “in what world do these comments sound ‘not serious.’” Clearly @time butt toe just started an argument just because they thought they had a more mature outtake on the ml than @candy when so far the ml has only brought trouble to the mc and the only reason in all honestly us readers can tolerate it is because he’s considered ‘attractive’ and therefore ‘mysterious’ in a ‘charming’ way when in reality this type of pushy behavior is quite rude and reprehensible especially since we don’t know why he is acting like that. I don’t think ml is meant to be likable at first as author intended but later become this yearning devoted puppy after mc. I personally dislike this trope since I know people like the ml are insufferable and agree with @candy’s perspective especially since ml is not meant to be likable at first.

And @eiby why are they jumping on @candy when they clearly misinterpreted @candy’s comments while also accusing @candy for being “Illiterate” (I don’t no why @eiby capitalized the “i” in the middle of the sentence, couldn't tell whether it was by accident or purposeful so I just kept it capitalized), “spread that nasty misinformation”, “GTFO”, and “don't even deserve to be reading ts drop it already.” Funny how @eiby accused @candy of not reading closely when @candy never implied that they “baby” the mc or cared whether or not ml “was not aware the child was associated with mc” and that he already gave them “compensation” for a traumatizing situation that no one should ever go through while ml is in a position of power within the agency. Ml may have not known what his coworkers were doing, but he already knew how problematic exorcists are and should’ve kept closer tabs as ml is literally their superior. Ml wasn’t a powerless damsel in distress unable to prevent the child from being hurt when he is literally their boss. Also what compensation could ever rectify such trauma, any concerned person for a child would never chose to associate with the ml just because his presence drags in other exorcists due to his position. Also gatekeeping the story makes no sense to me especially since we are reading this freely on an illegal site, just who are they trying to protect? Other than their fragile pride that is. Someone can like other elements of the story like the unique mc, the cool setting, the character dynamics, while also disliking other aspects such as the ml and the exorcists and is just as valid to be able to read the story as @eiby.

I’m not saying @candy is totally right in their opinions nor are all their responses perfect, but the two of you clearly are just trying to go on a power trip by trying to prove you have more media literacy when clearly you are not even mature enough to have an open discussion and felt entitled enough to force your childish notions. More importantly let’s highlight @Gollumsan, @misolove, and @Fish for giving me relief. @Gollumsan, you took the words right out of my mouth preventing me from completely spazzing out from their sheer audacity. @misolover thank you for being understanding and then politely sharing your opinion giving me hope for this ml because I am rather attached to this story. @Fish your clarification was very helpful since I took issue with his flippant attitude but explaining why he does it humanizing him makes me want to read the novel now (too many times I have seen ml just be flighty for the sake of mystery and/or thrill on purpose with zero remorse while the story doubles down on how the ml is justified in their actions make me sick of this trope).

I do recommend the novel, though I can't be sure if you would like Taehee because you seem to really dislike him. Also, the theory about Taehee being Jaegyeom master's reincarnation is most likely wrong, though the current translated chapter hasn't gotten that far yet.

A few things that I would like to clarify in regards to Taehee. He has planned this revenge for a decade. It's literally his life goal, so he is willing to do all sort of dirty tactics to further his plan. This isn't so much of an excuse to his behavior, but if you have seen stories with revenge as a backstory, you will be able to understand why Taehee is the way he is. When you are in this mindset, you aren't in the liberty to be kind to others.

And as you can likely guess how this will go, Taehee will end up screwing his decade life plan because he falls for Jaegyeom. This is the biggest reason why I can't bring myself to hate the guy. It's not because Taehee has tragic backstory, since Jaegyeom has one too. It's about how the story leads to his current predicament. His hardwork and planning for a decade turns to dust all because he fell for a guy who ironically just wants to die, and they want to die by his hands. It's shakespearish style of irony.

Oooooo now I’m tempted to read. I just tend to dislike manipulative like ml since there’s so many of them and often they are manipulative for the sale of being manipulative, but your information paints ml in new light. Now I have another long read to add to my reading list (it’s a leviathan now I swear). I was looking at namu wikki, though unsure if it’s accurate, for novel spoilers and apparently Taehee’s favorite book is something I am currently enjoying reading though I haven’t finished yet. Funny how our tastes align in that aspect. Also according to the wikki there is a relation between Taehee and Jaegyeom’s master, but I was wrong about Taehee being the reincarnation. Ofc the wikki could be wrong or mistranslated. All in all I think am warming up to the guy which I am glad since every chapter including him I have just been cussing him out probably even more than Jaegyeom. I can’t help but have a soft spot for mentally deranged yearners.
