is it me or has online spaces gone downhill? like no one has anymore decency especially in the pirating scene
I feel like most people dont follow those lmao. They kinda dont make sense to me cuz I personally dont see a problem with general discussions that arent manga related or talking about a specific title lol but aye I didnt make the website so idk lol. I dont see the harm in it but there must be a reason for it
ok
not the point I was making
"Has online spaces gone downhill"
Yes the quality goes downhill [the more people overlook things and/or are lazy and don't read (aka common sickness among people who need things handed to them, for example: entitled old people)]
The site layout is confusing but if you spend more than 5 milliseconds on it, you can figure it out
Granted I did say my attention span was about the speed of light earlier today but come on guys please don't beat my personal record of low intelligence and attention span
a. you made an excuse "server needs UI update"
b. you said others are doing it therefore it makes you doing this OK "half the people on here arent either"
c. I'm sorry you don't like to read. I just type a lot cus I like to type, that's all.
these seems quite defensive of the take that you are contributing to the very thing you are complaining about (aka decency/quality on online communities). Didn't even do a quality check on the page you were posting on (which was reading the rules 5 pixels above where you start a new topic).
anyways, I'm not gonna do this thing where we argue on what words mean but yeah, you're contributing to your own complaint
you're the one who started a discussion. it's not serious to discuss it but it's serious for you to complain about it. ok hypocrite You literally wrote a discussion about online communities declining, but suddenly it ain't serious lolol.
"I want attention not a discussion because now i dont like where its going" Keep being you if it makes you happy ig
The whole original post was ironic. Decency in pirating spaces?? I just thought it was funny they posted this but then also disregarded written rules directly above the place where they had to post.
Also just realized you were too scared to confront because you didn't directly reply so;
i'm a ray of sunshine!!! how did you know?
also, the "Please don't stoop to my level of idiocy" was calling me out, not you. I'm saying yall are capable of learning an old website, but man, main characters always need to feel offended about something.
anyways you do you boo. Mental gymnastics.
i should be more defined thats on me but im not talking about communities on pirating servers rather those on sns platforms like x and tiktok treating it like its google trying to get pirating links. like no one knows how to do things themselves. and people tend to glaze over creators who post videos with ‘yaoi website’ in front of authors faces then sht on those who dont like people mentioning pirating servers rather. thats what i mean when the community is going downhill. like no one knows how fake at least being supportive of authors more specifically in the manhwa aspect anymore
should i have been more specific yes. but IM not talking about the scene here rather the community on sns. like you’ve mentioned people dont look for things themselves anymore. people glaze creators who are so public about being a pirate where authors can see but hate on those that solely talk about supporting. thats what i mean online communities are becoming downhill especially in the manhwa scene
Just wanna say the original post was pretty obvious to me that you were talking about people's online behavior going downhill. Not following pointless rules that holds no value or is being enforced is NOT downhill decency. Idk why that person brought it up as a 'gotcha!' moment. It's not even relavent when literally everyone is posting whatever they want on here.
scared to confront...? Dude what are you? the boogeyman? lmaoooo I just accidentally didn't click reply to your specific comment. You get the notification regardless so it doesn't matter at all cuz once ya reply to a post you get notifications as soon as someone else posts but ohhhhh nooooooo I'm so scared to confront the internet strangerrrrrrr
You're like foaming at the mouth upset calmmmmm downnnnn babes. You're being really weird tbh you're talking about main characters and saying someones "scared to confront you" and shit like we're not just a bunch of randos chit chatting on a random post. It was just a random ass post OP made and then you just started being weird for some reason. Idk who pissed in your cornflakes but yikessssss.
This is why I think the discussion is better for the real forums of the website (add this to the homepage url: /thing/595) because then it will produce some actual good discussion that you might enjoy (instead of just random comments that get collapsed). Plus it pops up in the top of the threat page where people can see it and it isn't easily ignored.
With context, I agree — the spaces are extremely toxic and there is a culture of pirating elitism. It's like; Supporting the author is good, but shame on the people who do that. "I can't afford to support the author so I pirate. Because you should be able to experience culture without needing money, right? But giving publicity is supporting them too, right? So f-- the actual money supporters, theyre just elitist" dumbass mentalities. (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸 It's like they praise the pirates more than those who motivate the artist to actually make a living and draw more.
It happens a lot on this website, too. I am one of the people who use this website to preview the work to see if its worth my time, then go buy or support them on official websites. I bought the Little Mushroom graphic novel and DAMN am I invested. But shithead entitled teenagers say, "I have no money," and proceed to bash anyone with any implications that pirating is bad for the author. They protect the pirates saying to not spread website links, but there is never any mention of supporting the actual creator via officials or donations. If someone does link them, these lazy types still ignore it, because they just want their daily dose of dopamine.
A lot of these people are also the type to say "exposure is a way of supporting them!" I don't think they understand until they do an unpaid internship or they do some hard labor unpaid. Exposure through copyrighted page screenshots on X or animations using official art on Insta/YT is NOT a way to support them UNLESS you also link the official links.
I think the only way to combat the culture is to either call them out and tell them what the result of their stupidity would be (One of my favorite manwhas got canceled because they couldn't reign in enough money to support the team, despite massive following on pirate sites) or to spam official KR and EN links.
Thank yoy for clarifying by the way. In forums, I'm usually cynical and sarcastic for the lols. In discussions, I try to be normal. I apologize for the bluntness and trouble I caused.
tbf we both were using sarcasm tones lol but the ‘legal’ creators aren’t necessarily elitist but just that they dont want me to talk about pirating on their comments at lease from those i follow. and exposure is good but like you mentioned using unofficial art or unofficial translations in edits is not the way to do it. theirs the pros and cons but over the last year its just been so bad. my only experience to a story getting dropped was because their het story wasnt doing well compared to their bl stories
also doing the whole adding things feels way to much work for at lot of people and its not something everyone would figure out in 5 minutes hell i just found out from you and ive been on here for 6/7 (no pun intended) years which is why it goes in the question forum but it doesn’t really seem like the mods care that much
Accidentally didn't reply 3 times, IM CRINE. keep making excuses
Yes I'm foaming at the mouth, how did you know!?!? I actually had cocopuffs this morning but fyi it was Jeff bozos who did that.
(I'm not sure you see it now, but you're getting rage baited. This is my hobby online cus it's funny af. Yes i touch grass and have a life. OP just set themselves up for the hypocrisy comment, and I took advantage of it. With their context, its easier to have a convo. Even my phone is crying rn to turn off from this funny bull. But I'm not the type of ragebaiter like the jinx fake chapter posters to possibly off hundreds and risk getting doxxed.)
anyways
It's aight it's aight. The UI is clunky but explore the site and you'll probably get the hang of it. A lot to see, quite honestly. Plus you can add pictures on those "thing" forums, making it more funny or set the tone or even provide context to why you posted this stuff in general. It's way more effective than the front page comment section.
Of course artists don't want to see their work pirated. Especially when dingleberries send links in their comment secti-- who tf is even doing this?? If I understand right, youre saying some asswipes are sending unnoficial links/etc. to the artists' social medias??? Seriously what artist is basically getting harassed by piraters? I'll beat the pirate's aah. That's exactly how you get a series canceled.theyre not helijg anyone, not even the people who wanna experience "manga/wha/Hua culture because they can't afford it" because then their favorite series will die. Goddamn idiots holy shit
As for the initial reaction, I did indeed catch the dumb. I didn't quite understand what you were getting at so I was going to skip it, but then I remembered that the forums on the front page were mostly for general Manga discussion, and was like "lol, wait, isn't this going against what the owners want?" And then it went off from there. 1am is an opportune time for ragebait. I can guarantee you the mods don't care if it's an honest mistake. Probably will just delete the discussion. Spammers? They get their asses kicked.
Anyways, again sorry if you did feel hurt or offended, I was just playing. I need to level up my insult skills and this is just how I do it. Its really funny. Okay, now it's not sounding like an apology but really, I think there was just a misunderstanding between us both. Glad we got it figured out, and again—sorry for the tone. Have a good day/night/evening/morning, and stay classy
(realized i ranted after I got done writing this lol sorrryyyyy I might have went off topic once my brain got a train of thought)
This is something I have found really interesting lately cuz I also don't understand the hate for people who actively promote supporting artists legally lol (I think it's lowkey like a guilt thing cuz they feel called out lol). I completely agree with you. Like yeah, continue pirating if you want but it's important to try to support the creators of the stories at the same time if possible. I pirate but I also buy A LOT of manhwa and manga to try and give back when I can cuz without actual monetary support, these stories wouldn't be able to actually happen. How do people think artists get paid? IK a lot of people hate on that one tiktoker Lamy or whatever her name is cuz she blocks people who advertise illegal websites but thats her right for HER page and she's right when she says legal readers are the only reason these things keep going. cuz look at what happened to that one story, Prey (I think). It got discontinued because there wasn't enough support even tho a lot of people liked it but didn't wanna invest in it's creation. You'll see a lot of people in the comments section upset but I bet money on the fact that a majority never bought a chapter or something like that
I feel like there should be a balance, invest when you can and dont advertise these sites type of thing (not advertising these is literally piracy 101). Artists and the other people who put work into making these stories dont get paid with hopes and dreams.
Life is expensive and hard, no ones sayin put your life savings into these things but if you have a piece of work you really like, buy some chapters if you can
It's one of those situations where two things can exist at once even if they kinda contradict each other lol. Support and investment are important, while these websites are also important because it allows people to access works that have gone out of print or if they werent posted on here, they would never be found again
there was only a couple comments that werent replying to someone directly (the first one being to you I just didnt click reply, and the second time was a general statement to everyone who was replying so there wasnt a need for me to click reply lmao??? also, again, it's not like my comments are secret if youre not being directly replied to, you get the notification regardless and it was very clear I was talking to you lol
And honestly you do kinda give the same energy as the people who post those weird fake chapters. I just dont think ya realize it tho lol. It's... a little lame to admit that "ragebaiting" is a hobby if I'm being honest. That's something a middle schooler says dude I wouldnt really admit that again lol.
But its okay, I luv u and all ur flaws <3.
bomtoon released its lineup for the second half of publication and dear00 was announced to begin in this second half of the year! new cover is out
