This. That’s the part that got me. Like, I feel for our male lead, I do. Up to the point where he agreed to the farce marriage until mc’s lead is found. The part that gets under my skin is by placing mc in a position where he loses all power within his own court. You agreed to pretend. So either be discreet about your dumb affairs or don’t sleep around. Either way, you’ve completely undercut the person pretending to be your partner, which you did end up agreeing to.
That being said, it also makes them human. People make dumb decisions all the time. I know some people who have done much worse in their past and who ended up being good, upstanding people. If everyone is judged by the dumb decisions they make during times of extreme stress and before their prefrontal cortex is fully developed, how do the majority of people get a chance to learn and grow? Now, if it becomes a pattern of behavior and/or the situation were to become more extreme and knowingly abusive, this becomes less redeemable. We also don’t live under these specific stressors and circumstances, and situations significantly change how people behave and the choices they make (Psych101). I guess I just don’t understand the vehement hatred. I hate the act, but that doesn’t mean a story including it can’t be good, or that a person isn’t redeemable.
