I don't think you understand what's the concern about gen AI translator that literally destroying the environment and monopolized RAM market and a mere piracy website. It's two different matters.
These AI translator FEED human-art into gen AI, they STORE the data (the art), artists been talkin abt this for years, even before chatGPT released to the public by the way. The more someone use gen AI, the more the machines in all those datacenters would consume water and heating the earth. So when you glazing these AI translator and visiting their website or even worse, pay, for the "fast" update, the more traffic and engagement they get. It's only natural when people complain about it since other fantranslator also have the same concern cause these (at least 4-5) gen AI translators always so rude too and basically ruined the fun in fantranslation and pirating media.
Meanwhile a pirate website like this one, been going around for yeaaaars. It's quite literally the backbone of the industry before OTT or apps such as webtoon, lezhin, etc exist. It's natural when people download all those legal apps to support their favorites stories or authors even in the language they don't understand. But IF they don't have the money yet or can't access the app or legal website, then pirates is like one of the solution. Not the sole one, but one of many. Yes i also understand the frustration when some author is so against the illegal readers, after all it's their line of work and they need support too. But on the other side, i also don't really blame ppl if they don't have all the resources to support the author in legal web/apps.
