My question is why did Simon have more negative aura than ludwhatever, when he did way worse stuff than Simon?
Maybe guilt? Simon actually seems to feel it when the other doesn't. The only thing I can think of.
Negative doesn't necessarily mean crimes. Guilt is also a negative feeling. Maybe that's also a lesson for druids that not all people with immense negative aura are criminals. Not just because someone's negative aura is not as heavy, doesn't mean their crime is light.
