I am pretty fluent in spanish but “oye” in terms of greeting means “hey”. “Oye” also means “to hear”, but thats a lot different, I don’t know exactly how to explain it lol
If "oye" is alone then it means "hey", but if it's in a more complicated phrase or conjugated like for example..."¿Lo oyes?/You hear that?" ,"¿Me oyes?/You hear me?", "Lo oímos/We hear it" or "Te oigo/I hear you" then it's referring to the verb "oír" (to hear).
