Why did this have to get cancelleddddd ╥﹏╥ At least they tried to give it a happy spin, but it’s so sad we’ll never get to learn more about the last hero(who was the most interesting one imo, they even foreshadowed about him having secrets lol). They got the whole team except him, he didnt even get to be in the final chapter ;w;
What’s sad is i feel like if they just got like, 5 more chapters, we could’ve at least had a rushed but satisfying ending…
Tbh, i was giving the duchess the benefit of the doubt at first, thinking maybe the author was just unintentionally making her an ass to prove something, but the last few chapters made it pretty obvious that’s the route they’re going with.
For me, the main problem with her is that while yes, every adult in this has been an asshole so far, she has the least of an excuse and seems to be owning up to it the least.
The duchess is an asshole but her reasoning for it is just that her family doesnt show emotion. A thing they can’t control, and which she knew BEFORE CHOSING TO HAVE KIDS. It is understandable for her to be upset or frusterated at them at times, or feeling regret at not being able to fix the curse, but it does NOT justify her just straight up shoving and being mean to her own children and the person she agreed to marry. She was the one who decided to marry and have kids before she had a cure for the curse. Also she has taken basically zero responsibility for her prophecy resulting in the FL being dragged here(which could have/still could get her killed), and is instead forcing her to go down this weird magic bs path which FL didn’t even really want to do.
It’s just uncomfortable and weird at this point how rancid the vibes have gotten in this, and I can’t even really tell if it’s intentional??? Are we supposed to find the bit in the last chapter funny? I want to see how this plot develops, but at this point it’s genuinely hard with how much they seemingly WANT us to hate the duchess, but also want us to enjoy her screentime. You can’t have her “haha quirky xD” antics the same chapter she asks her own children to give her their blood for her experiments. I’m just genuinely baffled.
