i just need to get my thoughts out about this manhwa because everytime i start it, i can never stomach to finish it.
I know what happens from spoilers, and sometimes i’ll read the last chapters (95-102) and just. wow. everytime i try to read this from start to finish i get a sense of dread and i physically cannot bring myself to read this. Its insane to me, because ive read so many psychological horrors or emotional roller coasters but this story. this specific one gets me. every time. i have never read a story that has made me so anxious and scared.
the dialogue is so beautiful, the characters are all amazing and the relationship between everyone and how everything ties together is the cherry on top. i can’t read this story for fear of the impact on my mental health but god, is this such a masterpiece.

ML is some guy who also migrated into the original second ML body

only at chapter 103 rn, but i need to get my thoughts out. I think the reason why this is such a difficult read is because the characters just keep stringing back and fourth, they don’t actually take responsibility for their actions, they just say they do. there’s a difference between actively trying to make a change in your situation vs accepting its conditions and when something goes wrong you just apologise. At some point the apology just feels dull and you think “can we move on?” mr lee is the most frustrating character to deal with because you see him have self realisation and think, “this might go somewhere!” and in the next chapter he’s back to his old ways. he doesn’t set boundaries when uncomfortable, he doesn’t actually push yuri away in a way that’s meaningful. he’s a hypocrite because he hates his mother for invalidating his feelings yet does the same to yuri. and i think the reason this is so annoying is because it’s so realistic. you can’t learn to communicate in one day, you can’t learn to actually speak up for yourself in one day, you can’t stop yourself from regressing to a person you hate (yet was there for all your developmental years) when your exhausted. the reason stories like this get so much bad rep is because even though it’s written well, people read this to escape from life. when characters are so realistic we hate them because they’re just like, because they make all the mistakes we do, they do things we know they shouldn’t do. even though this is well written would i say it’s a good read? that’s debatable. because at the end of each chapter i just found myself feeling more and more frustrated for each character. yuri can’t regulate his emotions and is reliant on any person that’s kind to him. mr lee is a hypocrite and doesn’t actually do anything to try get better (therapy? finally reaching closure with jungho even if it means cutting him out your life? talking to yuri and understanding that his feelings for you are partially because you are the most stable constant in his life at the moment) i think im even harder on mr lee than I am on yuri because for 100 chapters he emphasises how he’s an adult and he’s sorry but he never actually does anything to help himself. he had so many years to get help or talk to someone and he didn’t. is yuri a massive bitch? yeah. but is mr lee a massive hypocrite? also yeah. idk, a story where a characters ACTUAL issues don’t actually develop 100 chapters in can be praised for good writing, yes it’s realistic, yes it makes sense. but that doesn’t mean it’s not a frustrating read.
