I don't think people dispute that Ian felt something for jo. What most people dispute is that Jo was the one for Ian cz that was so obvious he wasn't. Ian loved Jo but not in the " you are my forever person and I'd die for you" way. Eventually that's why Ian ends it cz he realises he'd never really be happy and satisfied with Jo even if he holds some affection for him. He let's him go and accepts that the reason he never ran away was cz he really never wanted to leave TJ behind ever. It's also why it hurt him so much when TJ went MIA. Kinda hypocritical but that's the contradiction of human nature.

This is a PSA. If you didn’t know by now, but Tappytoon Official English Translation is full of mistakes. Doyak did not oversee their translation. So for the physical books she hired a new translator and even proofread them herself to make sure her work is being presented accurately. Because Tappy was making up shit.

Notable mistakes include
Tappy : TJ asked us to RESTRAIN Ian from leaving the bar
Correct translation : TJ asked us to STALL Ian from leaving the bar.
Huge difference.

Rooftop stargazing scene where Jo asked if Ian has ever loved anyone. I can’t remember his exact wording in Tappy’s version but it was something along the lines of yeah there was someone like that but we’re friends now
Correct translation
There is (Ian subconsciously saying there’s someone his still loves in the present tense)
Then he changed it to “there was” (past tense)
Tappy omitted a very important line where Ian is telling the reader that he’s still in love with TJ. And in a later chapter Jo recognized that Ian was lying to himself when he changed his answer to the past tense.

Whereas in the breakup chapter Jo asked Ian two questions. Did you ever love me or were the feelings I thought I recieved were a lie (something like that)
Tappy translated that to I loved you, but nowhere in the Korean version was (sarang/love) ever written. Ian used the same answer he did back in the rooftop. He said there was…(referring to feelings) that wasn’t a lie. (Past tense) he answered the 2nd part of Jo’s question about whether Ian had genuine feelings for him. Ian never admitted to loving Jo. Ian cared for Jo. He felt affection for Jo. But in the same chapter Ian had a whole monologue about how his heart was tethered to one place (TJ) since the beginning. He could never truly give his heart or open it up to Jo because TJ already took root in it. That’s why he couldn’t continue being with Jo. Because he couldn’t reciprocate Jo’s feelings.

The insane amount of copium from both sides of the shipper fandoms is almost comical; one side acts like Chapter 98 doesn't exist, while the other side completely ignores Chapter 99. In reality, the author explicitly defined those feelings for joseph as love even if the types of love could be affection , gratitude yada yada but
distorting it won't make your nothingburger endgame profoundly deep. Taejoon Youngwoo shippers need to accept the narrative exactly as the author has presented it, joseph clearly asks about romantic love, youngwoo admits his feelings and confesses that he would have continued their relationship if he could. However, his emotional gravity and history with taejoon will always outweigh his potential with joseph. If you put youngwoo in any other situationship, he would likely fall for that person too. In conclusion, even if his heart could fall for a thousand different men, he is always going to gravitate right back to Taejoon. There is really nothing deep enough in this slop or either nothingburger relationship to cause this much fandom discourse.

His feelings for Jo and what they had wasn't a lie but they don't hold the same weight as TJ and Ian relationship and what they shared. No one is really saying that 98 chapter doesn't exist and honestly all of Ian dialogue in that chapter was him saying that. He do feel affection for Jo and if he could he would continue what they had but he couldn't because his heart is anchored to someone else. He loves TJ and he is accepting that decision even if that decision were to hurt him and the both of them.

oh of course. that’s what i meant, that even if it was fleeting he did feel something for jo, but nothing could compare for what he felt for TJ. that’s why both ian and him always gravitated around each other, even among everything they went through, toxicity trauma etc, their love was still there waiting to be brought out

exactly! both things happened, both are true. they would have ended up together either way, and jo could’ve never been endgame (saying this as someone that got endeared to him lol). its just exactly as portrayed, even when they tried being far, they kept thinking about the other, and just a glimpse of the other was enough to make them fall into the usual cicle again and again. so yeah, there’s nothing deep, it got obvious after some time that they would’ve always kept going back to each other

It’s a running joke on Twitter that someone on Tappytoon and D07 is a Jo stan. They even used an incorrect synopsis (the one used here) where it doesn’t even mention TJ at all. Doyak had them changed it once she found out. They could’ve used the same synopsis as the one on RIDI but Tappy decided they wanted to do their own thing. You’d think they were the author. At the end of the day Doyak knew what was going on. She speaks English. She should’ve proofread the translation before allowing Tappy to continuously misrepresent her work instead of only correcting the physical books.
