I came back to this webtoon after reading only 7 chapters and abandoning it 7 yrs ago but damn i’m glad i decided to read it when i did cuz middle school me would have taken the message with a grain of salt. Now i’m a sophomore in college and what Seol and many of the characters are going through resonates so deeply within me and probably a bunch of other readers. You’re trying so hard to keep up with your work, school, and private life you don’t even have time to be there for your mental health. Even familial trauma and mental illness aren’t taken lightly with this. I’m glad Seol was eventually able to speak up for herself and heal from the burdens that her family, classmates and even her boyfriend (even though his own trauma was no excuse for the way he treated those around him) put on her. She’s really one of my favorite protagonists in a webtoon because she’s so real. She has flaws and she realizes them and doesn’t take them lightly. That’s why I loved this so much, even putting aside the romance aspect, no character is perfect in this. They don’t feel 2d or one sided. They kinda feel like people i’ve interacted with or grown up with, hell even people i’ve had to deal with in college myself. I’m sorry for the long ass review but damn this is good storytelling right here and I’m glad the author is still writing good shit with After School Lessons for Unripe Apples, it’s the only webtoon I use fast pass for lol.
I felt this I too read this when I was in middle school and I dropped it because I felt like there's too much going on and I couldn't relate to her. Now I reread it again and finished the whole thing in two days. I couldn't believe how much my life has changed and I'm appreciating this more than I did
