Ugh...masterpiece is hard to say.

The closest thing I can think to a general masterpiece would be Silver Diamond. It's one of my lifetime favourites in every way. Very fairytale like. Think Enid Blyton with bishies.

The Gorgeous Carat series may not be on that level, but it has a lot of really good world-building too. This is the first in the series.

19 Days would be a more modern masterpiece in my eyes. It's a lazy day webtoon that somehow manages to captivate you no matter what the chapter is about. It's probably the best Slice of Life.

Totally Captivated is my favourite yaoi manga. The characters are at times broken, and always flawed. I think it's a great example of how characters are meant to be constructed when you're telling a story. This is how it's meant to be done.

Let Dai, Ai No Kusabi and Under Grand Hotel rip the characters to shreds and drench themselves in the fuckedupedness. So if you want to be mad and angsty, maybe cry, all at the same time, those are good for that. They're very skillful works because they still make you feel for characters who have done some seriously bad shit. At the same time they don't really excuse it. They walk the line well. You just have to be the kind of person that can 'listen'.


Mother's Spirit is very simple, but I think it's the best of the soft manga. The kind that is just pure/beautiful/simple romance with nothing more needed. If you need a hug, this is the manga version of that.

Kanjou Spectrum has a similar aura, even though there's a very mild drama in it.

Here U Are would be my pick of a masterpiece for the realistic genre. The relationship is very down-to-earth and as close as you're going to get to a realistic relationship in manga. I'm not usually for realism, but I still found it captured me. Every part of it is well-crafted.
