According to the novel MCs father was SAd. No it doesn't make it okay, and we can still hate him. Nothing excuses his actions against an innocent child. He literally hired a maid to torture a child. The person crying about the dad "not being a good representation" of SA can go get fucked though. His happy life and marriage was ruined by it, so of course the child is a reminder. We don't usually see male victims of (hetero) SA. I think it fits the story's narrative and why he hates her without even making him a cheater. It's an interesting twist to have. Still hate him.
Actually no his married life was ruined by himself. From the moment his wife noticed how horribly he can treat a child, he lost her. Again, he is the one that brought the mc into the house, if the mc was such as eyesore he should not have taken her in, in the first place.
