I've seen some people go into the comments of a manga/manhwa/manhua accusing it of being ai generated. Like, please, use your brain, if the story was created or uploaded back in 2021 or some shit, Generative AI wouldn't have been advanced enough to create a relatively cohesive story with panels that interact with another(?) (Idk how else to say it)......   1 reply

Like I know you wouldn't take advice from a person who's never cooked before, but it doesn't take a chef to know that as much as you like paprika seasoning, dowsing your food in it is gonna make it shitty.(if you get what I'm trynna say?)   reply

Honestly, I've never really thought about them that much, and neither disliked nor liked them, but when I think it over, I think I dislike them more than I like them. For me, one of the reasons is that I struggle to process/hear things on the first try (especially in movies omfg what is up with the mumbling bro) and oftentimes need subtitles, lyric......   1 reply

People who are in relationships, or have been, how seriously do you take advice from relationship advice from friends with no dating experience?

For context: (You can js ignore my story but and answer the main question btw) I have no actual dating or sexual experience myself, and it's not something I hide or am ashamed about. It's not that I'm uninterested, I've just never really pursued possible relationships for whatever reason, and I'm relatively content with just having my close friendships. I'm also def the honest 'say-it-how-it-is' type of friend, and while I try my best to be polite when it come to friends I know are sensitive, I rarely sugarcoat my words with close friends, and really prioritise open communication.

In the past, and present, I've had friends come to me to talk about their troubles in their relationship, or I hear about friends and their shirty partners, and I always do my best to advise them by seeing things in their perspectives. And while I'm not expecting them to always take my advice and act on it, I wonder how much they really take it to heart. Especially when they don't seem to act on my advice, only for them to break up with that partner a couple months later because said partner's behaviour had only gotten worse. OR when I advised that the couple go on a break, or at least communicate about how they feel, only for one of them to cheat on the other. (Both ppl in that couple were my friends)

Am I going insane or is this person insanely slow? Never in my seven seas.... is this person being geniune rn??? Honestly i js need someone to back me up on this bcs ??? I have def read some questionable shit during my time on mangago, but at the very least I am able to differentiate what is morally right or wrong. In what world would a 30 yr old being in a relationship with an 18 yr old be okay??? If ANY of my friends told me that they were dating a grown ass 30 yr old, I think I would make it my personal mission that everyone around said 30 year old knew that they were dating a TEENAGER. Because an 18 is straight up a teen. Only reason a grown ass 30 year old would be dating an 18 year old is bcs they legally cannot go younger.

For me it would be any romance story where the mc or love interest are never depicted hanging out with friends. Like, yes there are definitely people who just don't have friends, but its (in my opinion) not very healthy to have your only important relationship be your partner. Also, if they don't have friends, I feel like it should at least be mentioned or have an impact on the character/their descriptions, instead of just completely omitting any mention or visual cue of a character having relationships outside of the romantic story premise.

Curious as to what irks other people in stories that might have js gone completely over my head.

Doesn't have to be today, or even a recent thing. It can be a little thing that happened that for some reason you can't stop thinking about, a good deed you did that you won't tell others bcs it makes it seem like you're bragging, it could be your deepest darkest secret, or something that mildly annoyed you. From the smallest or biggest thing to ever happen in your life, anything goes.

What's been pissing me off recently (and since forever) is some people's inability to hold mangakas accountable for things that *they've* written in their manga. And while I'm going to talk about manga/anime, this could hold true to korean/chinese media too, its just that I feel more comfortable critiquing Japanese media, as I grew up consuming it my whole life, and am half Japanese.

This is particularly true when it comes to the anime community, which in itself is a bit toxic, because so many western fans refuse to hold Japanese mangakas to the same standard as they would to any other normal person. They often use excuses like '[Mangaka] didn't know any better' or 'But in Japan, they don't know about it' or even the god-forsaken noncey line 'But in the Japan, the legal age of consent is-'. The last one pisses me off the most, because of how stupid it is. The legal age of consent in a country should not be the cutoff line for an adult person's age of attraction, and I'm sick of people arguing so. (Esp when grown ass middle aged men talk abt 'the youngest theyll go is 18' but we all know they only say that bcs the law doesnt let them go any younger)

Of course, you cant expect to hold people of another country to the exact same standards of your own, but this is about geniune common fucking sense. Mangakas are usually grown adults, and shall be treated as such. They do not need to be babied by anyone just of their ethinicity. They know damn well and good in this day and age when they write a piece of fiction that includes racist/sexist undertones, or scenes that are outright fucking nuts. They are, once again, GROWN ADULTS and can complete their own research to know if what they are writing is problematic.

This isnt about a particular mangaka, manga or anime, but just a buildup of annoyance. It also doesnt help when the manga and anime industry are built to protect predators, and even allow them to continue creating manga under pseudonyms, despite knowing that the person is a convicted criminal.

And no, you cannot 'separate the art from the artist' when art is an extension of the artist and a form of their self expression, therefore reflecting their own personal beliefs into their artwork. Examples of this are when you watch an old hollywood movie and find pro-isreali propoganda in it. Or even a modern one.
