The fact they wasted decades due to a "misunderstanding", being a part and are now elderly already near death, so they can never make up for lost time is just...so wasteful. Its a worse ending than if she had actually died.

The ML in this webtoon version is a confirmed cuck, banging the pregnant widow of the man he murdered. And the FL is trapped as a hostage in this messed-up situation between a psychopathic ML - who confused her kindness to him as romantic interest, her 1st husband predatory relatives wanting access to her son, and the sinister King (whom ordered her to marry the ML and whom the ML is the right-hand-man of) who saw her 1st husband as a threat to his crown and by extension this makes her son also at risk should his real heritage be officially recognised.
Yikes. Poor kid and poor FL the whole thing is so twisted. In the novel apparently the author never confirmed the identity of the child's father. I think the webtoon chose to confirm its the 1st husband to make the theme of this story even darker. Which is usually the opposite for a webtoon, they often try to "tone it down" with the dark stuff from a web novel.
And for those who say the FL "doesn't deserve the ML he deserves better..." wth is wrong with you????

There is an "afterword" the author and artist did for the RAW at the end of the series to justify why the sides did a 180, but it didnt really make sense. Which is probably why i dont think the English official translation has published it yet - or ever will.
The author basically said the the main story is about how the ML and FL are both people who become each other's "savior" due to being each other's true love and ML repents by becoming devoted to the FL. But then they said they did the sides to reveal just how twisted and peverse his desires (like being a cuck) is towards the FL and exploring different fetishes. They advised readers to look at the sides with an "open mind" but also as "separate from the main the story". Like how on earth is that suppose to work ?
