Back when I was reading this in 2024, there's tons of haters but I guess they don't realize that she's doing it for survival. From where and what year she is living, freckles and being dark isn't really seen in a good light unlike this generation. Literally dressing ugly won't help her so it's necessary for her to make her face and skin unfit for their generations standard.
