On twitter the author recommended to reread chapter 11 to understand Juheons feelings in the latest chapter. I really do recommend it to reread it!
The way Dohu helped that kid. Juheon was in the same position as him, except no one was there for him. While he’s facing a lot of his past right now, recalling his experience, Dohu shows up. He is there to help the kid in Juheon
Thank you so much for that I was really struggling to understand chapter 85 and going back and rereading chapter 11-13 helped me to understand more especially with this recent chapter. It really solidified how consistent Dohu is and how much he really yearns for that stability that he sees as "unexpected"
He saw himself in the kid, and he turned away, yet Dohu saw him and immediately approached him and asked what was up and he still tried to understand him even when he was standoffish at first and stayed with him until his grandmother came. Juheon was confused as to why Dohu would approach and help a kid that was standoffish especially as he could become clingy if he did and wondered if things would be different if had done the same for hum when he was a child. Dohu said he did it because he seemed lonely and he would do the same for Juheon if he was a kid or as they were as adults. Juheon is scared and putting up walls because if he doesn't he will get "clingy" again and risk Dohu getting hurt as well by the aunt and Park Giate. Dohu probably saw through this and acted as he did as he won't let Juheon decide to protect him on his own and go build walls back up again. They're two stubborn bastards so they are gonna find themselves in a battle of wills next chapter probably.
Yesss I agree with everything you’ve said! Because of this I also believe we’re leaving the “breakup” arc. Dohu is the only one that knows Juheon’s vulnerable part. He is breaking the walls that Juheon rebuilt 4 years ago. Few chapters ago we saw Juheon warming up to Dohu again (the chapter in the car scene and the dinner at Dohu’s house). We also know that Juheon never really 100% got over Dohu. He still has the plushie that reminds him of Dohu, he notices every changed habit of Dohu (sleep, cap, hair). As you said, Juheon is scared of being clingy again. He is scared he’s going to get hurt again, because that’s what happened to him throughout his life. But still the walls that he has built are nothing for Dohu. That’s because he is the only one who genuinely knows him and loves him. AND he shows him that he truly cares about him and notices all the things. He doesn’t care how much Juheon pushes him away, he will always be there for him.
I don’t think the ending is bad or rushed. He cannot live without her, but he also cannot kill her. She also cannot kill him (as seen with the bug and stone). So it makes sense that the only option for him is to kill himself.
The ending also doesn’t feel rushed to me. Like yes I would’ve preferred it to be longer of course. But the story feels rounded. I feel like if the story was continued, it would’ve been too long and dragged out. All the storylines are finished for the characters, the ending makes sense for them. The pacing was good in my opinion.
I did see a comment about that the first part feels like it’s been written by a ghostwriter, and I really do see where that person comes from. The pacing and storytelling felt different. Maybe it is my memory tho because it’s been a year ago since I started this. So a reread would help me to conclude my thoughts and opinions.
But I’m definitely satisfied with the ending!

As much as i hate the previous 2 chapters, this chapter is really good and just shows how well written it is.
Juheon didn’t ran away because Dohu used him as an inspiration. He ran away because he was afraid to be hurt again by the person he cares about. Just like it always happened to him in his past.
Like we knew that he never stopped caring about Dohu. He want's him but at the same time he's scared of that. He’s scared of being attached, scared to hope, and in the end scared of getting hurt again.
And this is really because of his past, all of his wounds are opened when facing him. That’s why he has the internal conflict between hope and anxiety. And that’s why he runs away just to be free from feeling all those emotions. He is emotionally exhausted of everything. He just doesn’t want to feel anything anymore.
And that’s what the hard part is. He want’s Dohu, he still has feelings, longing towards him. He finally gets it that Dohu’s feelings towards him are genuine.
And he is still facing his past. That’s why he still isn’t giving in. But what i find interesting is the panel that Dohu confesses (i think), we see a line being “cleaned”, something between them is wiped away. Thats where we see Juheon realizing what he’s facing. And so how he is realizing that running away isn’t going to do anything and he really has to face it whatever he needs to do.
