I can't be the only one thinking the author wanted to pull their own ushioni design, but then he would be too big for the panels lol. So they stuck with the spider like body instead. As shown on 6.8

I'm not too sure abt where the origins of it but I've seen quite a few Japanese stories featuring a creature that looks like a mixture of a wolf and a spider, I thought the ML was supposed to be that
