That school is more of a sentimental place for her to grieve over her life’s she had to leave behind. Another thing is imagine how boring the plot line would be if she lived in seclusion in some forest, it wouldn’t be a good read obviously so ofc they have to put her in a setting that shows she is the main character and is over powered. She died after being neglected and abused and her only source of light was stolen from her. There was no implication of him caring about her in their past life. The only thing acknowledged was that they had a son together.
Not sure about you but if I knew someone I liked was rotting away in a prison like room about to die, I wouldn’t let it continue. The duke could have at least made sure she was healthy enough. The rule with her father was to never love her, not to let her go crazy and die which could have been prevented. Didn’t even hit the bare minimum.
Another thing is he had never showed any interest in her and her wellbeing. He only talked to her for the first time in the greenhouse scene due to a sense of familiarity which he compared to his own situation. He knew that she had been shown no love or care but yet he continued to torment the women who was just trying to be happy. You might as well compare his redemption with the ml from abandoned empress.
I don’t care what anyone says, the husband is horrible. I understand his circumstances with money and whatever and how he does ‘care’ about her but he isn’t even trying hard enough and he is straight up an asshole. This story is more on the realistic side where childhood trauma and being in a yakuza really fks with someone and is actually portrayed in the story instead of getting skipped over. His toxic behavior is from his experience with life and ppl will be like ‘he doesn’t have to be rude and hurt her’ ofc he shouldn’t but that is who he is or ‘he sleeps with girls but says he loves mc’ the man has psychological issues going on in his head, he could be using sex for a sort of coping mechanism but idk.

I would've lost interest in this manga if they were all good people. I'm so tired of reading Yakuza stories and they're freaking saints. I love Kirishima, yeah he's kinda a shitty dude, but he's so much more interesting and realistic as a character in his lifestyle.
