I think it was a trick made up to get the kid from the father (the kid literally just scratched himself by falling on the ground, something super common that doesn't require the hospital just simple disinfection)

dunno how it's in korea but i have a friend who lives in japan and they genuinely go to the doctor for even a common cold over there. it must be a cultural thing of some kind, might explain why characters do to the hospital for the bare minimum in a lot of manga

I live in asia and I sort of go to the doctor for common colds over here too I guess, but the way they suggest going to the hospital even for a small scratch on the face seems absurd… It is probably a cultural thing like you said though
