i really liked that we followed dohyun and how he’s the sunbae now but… i guess i just am not fond of the “naively seductive younger ML” trope anymore. it’s what turned me off the lightnnovel initially and it’s taking effect now post-sex scenes but the story’s kinda worth it still so id still stick around

I really thought this was just a run of the mill, fun, no brainer, short japanese manga (which isn’t bad)
well, it sorta was but… i didn’t expect the plot twists and all. I can imagine the pain Kairi felt the entire time, trying to setup his mate with a person he felt was more worthy than him
i’ve been seeing less and less scanalations that take on japanese bl manga lately (or maybe korean manhwa’s just what’s dominating my feed & i have to look farther)
but im really happy translators who choose to rake on japanese bl like u still exist

But I think I still need to work on my horrendous taste in Japanese BL...This series, compared to other series I'm translating, I thought it was not so problematic and people might enjoy it, but turns out that's not really the case (probably because I'm still clueless about what most people like ;-;)

totally agree! i had to remove the webtoon tag in my searches for bl manga. it's not that i hate manhwa but as a long time fujoshi, bl manga is still the one(๑•ㅂ•)و✧
You know those music albums that they upload on piratebay which start out with the actual intro to the songs, then suddenly the artist’s voice cuts out the audio to chastise u about how u downloaded this on an illegal website. Though drawing actual, bad chapters takes more effort than that, the author fucking with us broke, pirate website readers is only reality I choose to accept bec if u loved ur characters enough, u would n’t subject them to a complete shift in tone and nuking character profiles
sigh… it’s sad how directionless it was. i would have forgiven the sudden shift in tone if the motives behind the grandpa’s character held any weight… but he’s just so inconsistent and such a caricature that it’s a waste of time to be mad at his actions.
the re! why does it have to be sex? what they could have done was have it be a bit awkward, after not being with each other for so long… then have them just be with each other. the scenes could even be just a narration of what they did — how they spent the afternoon quiet but just together, then talked about what they did when they were apart… then do mundane things, insert the sec in between probably something calm or sweet after a long while of not holding each other. It’s cringe to be thisninvested probably but… these characters just hold a special place in my heart. I would have thought even their re could have stayed true to how their relationship was. There was tension and heat but it’s always been a product of the complete understanding, safety and affection that they felt when together. I wish the re at least could have … brought them back to their roots? Not just… this
