heyy basically what happened was that shutlines author started being kinda shady in twt saying theres another manhwa with similar charac design, personalities, plot, and even some scenes (?) trying to say flashlight was ripping off shutline, and showing some panels as comparisons (none truly similar) so that started a huge discussion w ppl who defended one of them and blablabla. Some pointing out how shutlines author was acting like a bully bc SL is so much more popular than flashlight (at that time i think FL had around 30 chaps)

apparently aaron and yujin heavily resemble the two mc’s from shutline so people argue back and forth about it

i love both stories and “finished” (well, till the latest released chapter) both of them. i don’t have any bias and the first thing i noticed, is that there are indeed MANY similarities to this story and shutline. so, don’t think the author was being shady, they just called out the elephant in the room. many newer manhwas have taken inspo from shutline. but idk how the author precisely responded, so im not gonna dick ride them, just pointing out that it’s valid to point out how shut line has left an… imprint on some, who wanna make quick cash by taking from original popular works and executing it into their own (for cloud).

I must be blind I didn't even see that... I mean I guess it's cuz they are blonde and black hair mc and ml but the artvare do diff.. literally look at Aaron face perfection...

Which is so ridiculous because I could name 20 different Manhwas and Mangas where the characters are the generic black hair x blond hair couple.

I'm with you I don't know whether I'm blind or slow, but ever since that issue had been going around, I really can't see any similarities with them. Like they are their own stories in all ways.

What are the similarities genuinely??? The dark hair character x light hair character trope has been around since forever and is still very common in all type of media. The story genuinely has NOTHING that’s similar, the art also isn’t similar and neither are their personalities

the similarities they share could be shared w 298327 other BLS. The white blonde x asian couple??? so typical its literally in the top 3 most popular BLs. As much as Yujin and Shin resemble each other this could also be said about other characs like Taekjoo or Lee won or Ed (yeonwoo).
While shutlines story is about how shin, a *mechanic, gets involved in a complicated gangs situation and in the process falls in love w jake who starts off as a shady *gang member but is secretly is a *CIA agent. His biggest struggle is making a place for himself as an orphan who had to fight all odds and feels like he doesnt belong anywhere.
Flashlight is about Yujin whos biggest dream is *singing? and hes trying to piece his life together after his terrible childhood trauma that was living with his dad and being an acomplice to the kidnapping of famous child *actor Aaron. Who later on becomes his lover

where do these resemble each other besides yujin and shin being asian-american working class and aaron and jake being white and having um guns lol

since u know so much abt both stories, you should be able to answer this question to yourself. why do people always wanna disagree for the sake of disagreeing, on the internet? if you lack such discernment that you can’t even tell when there are obvious parallels, than i’m not even gonna have this conversation. i’m tired of people always looking to disagree just to talk. believe what u want

girl you are not presenting not even one single proof i just stated the differences in plot and characters, i dont disagree to disagree, both stories are good, they may overlap?? prolly, but its a GENRE thing. I just believe it was really distateful to complain abt a smaller manhwa knowing your fanbase is bigger and its gonna go pester the other author. The Korean BL industry seems quite ruthless and fastfoward, they are always pumping out thousands of bls per year, of course some are gonna "resemble" each other. Thats how industries work, in case of the similarities being too much you can reach PRIVATELY to the other author, not send your horde of fans to hate them

Genuinely the only similarities between them is top is blonde and bottom is black haired, I cannot even see them intertwined, like out of the 2 my fav is definitely flashlight and a lot of people like flashlight more actually because of the ART and the story , like it's different but also have some similarities to manwha I've read ,I think they got inspo from a lot of bl manwha but I don't think that they stole from shutline like I never even thought of them being similar

I think you need to open your eyes for a bit probably wash them , how can they be similar though can you show proof (probably a Link)? What scenes are similar again? Since YOU STATED there are A LOT OF SIMILARITIES which I can't find, like the only similarities between them is the top is blonde and the bottom is black haired....

Frrr like I don't even know issues like this existed either the author of shutline is just jealous or sm cuz flashlight is a lot for famous like the story's ain't even silimiar and especially the art style..

so, i literally said i am not dick riding the author in my first comment since i don’t know abt their beef. u don’t have to explain to me that part, my stance is simply that there are similarities, and pointing that out is fair. im not in the mood to write u an essay abt all the similarities bc i just don’t gaf abt it that much!!!

i don’t owe you my time. i’m not gonna sit and write down every similarity to have a random person online believe me. because guess what: i’m okay with people not believing me and having a different opinion!! the issue is that everyone wants u to subscribe to the popular opinion, like fucking sheep. i’ve read both stories, multiple times, and it’s fair to say this author got inspired by shutline in certain aspects. but i’m not gonna try to convince u. if u don’t got an analytical eye to pinpoint these simple details, than don’t even bother

the last thing i’ll say is check out the user @/shutline4ever they got a complete thread about the similarities. and all of them are very obvious ones too. but dont actually write me back unless you genuinely read through the threat. i wont talk to anyone who hasn’t seen the literal proof and waste me time talking abt something obv like the sky being blue
