Dang, it sucks when the manhwa adaptation of a novel kinda goes into overdrive in the last 10 chapters and tries to quickly cram in all the lore to wrap up the story. I guess it might be because they have a finite amount of chapters they can do, and it's not enough to put in all the novel lore.
But nah those random plot twists. I knew Hyeol liked Jeonghan but I didn't expect him to turn YANDERE mode on him. Then the next twist was Hyeol's dad ALSO had psychopathic tendencies and was a bully, and I'm like ooo that's where Hyeol gets it from. But then the next twist! Turns out that may not be true because actually, Yihan is the one with mental illness and is bipolar. So he miiiight have imagined all that? So idk why Hyeol is like that but bruh hope his love story with Jeonghan doesn't end in tragedy. Also found it funny Hyeol is tryna judge Woojin to see if he's a good man for his father when his own father was a terrible husband T_T
Then of course when Woojin falls into the water, I'm like "watch him wake up with amnesia?" Laughed so hard when he did cuz OF COURSE HE DID. How is this the second omegaverse manhwa I read with a depressed, suicidal MC who ends up saved by a hot, rich Alpha ML that also ends up with them both at a bridge again. Like enough with the bridges, guys.
"Bye Bye" btw, that manhwa also had issues, novel was better. Loved the story though, feel free to check it out.
But nah I got hella pissed when he talks about how he thinks Seungyeon was making up the novel thing as a coping mechanism and that's just glossed over real quick with "I was just trying to make sense of it as a man of science." Like I get it, but damn dude. Feel like we needed a little more angst or discussion over that for entertaining story narrative purposes but nope straight to wedding we go I guess. Sure, why not.
Well I definitely had a sleepless night since I stayed up late tryna finish this high speed train ride of a story. Some parts got me so confused I was wondering if it was just cuz I was tired, but no this thing was just really rushed with terrible pacing. It's adapted from a novel, so I'm thinking the novel probably had a better story. 39 chapters was just not it. i think everything got way more rushed in the last 5 chapters. I kept looking at the chapter numbers cuz I had no clue how they were gonna wrap it all up real quick.
Spoilers but
It was extremely jarring to jump from Sein potentially being dead in the bookstore being burned to Heilo and Harace having sex. I was like dude no I don't care about this rn, what the hell happened to Sein???
Binged it today only to realize side stories coming out in February. Well thank god for that cuz that ending needed more. Like what's with these stories ending with the Bottom reflecting on his relationship for like 3 chapters and pining and then ending with a heartfelt confession from the Top at the beach??? And that miscommunication despite Jaeyoung SAYING Sangwoo should talk about his feelings like y'all for the love of god. PLEASE. Jaeyoung sidestepping the issue of goin to the US is why Sangwoo kept sayin the relationship would end like bruhhh. Anyway def gonna read the novel now, I felt confused by some of the pacing in the manhwa so novel will be a good help. Enjoyed it tho, love my stupid babies.
I like how the sex scenes in the first 40 chapters were just mostly just milking the beginning one night stand for all its worth, and then it was just Eungyo imagining everything. And then FINALLY they have real sex around ch 47 and beyond
I'm not takin this manhwa seriously cuz it doesn't seem like it wants to be taking seriously but I lowkey kinda get why Eungyo was running in circles this whole time. Literally NO ONE expected him to like Sunwoo back and all of them reacted like he was crazy when he did. So I get his pride was hurting him here. And ofc on Sunwoo's side, everyone kept telling him there's no way Eungyo would like him back and Eungyo also being tsun as hell so naturally Sunwoo wasn't gonna make the first move like Eungyo wanted.
Like even me, when I say I hate something with every fiber of my being but end up liking it eventually, damn even I feel like a hypocrite. I shouldn't relate to this man but I get it, dude, I get it. They both still dummi tho and freaks so good for them.
It was cute and I saw some review saying the story focused more on the gaming aspect so I already knew the BL wasn't gonna be the focus. Honestly, I was pretty bored in the beginning, but as a gamer, I did get hype once they actually tried to clear the mythic raid... which unfortunately, was also near the end.
I kind of wish the characters were fleshed out more. Like why exactly does Soobin like Chahyun so much? I'm assuming something about their interactions when Soobin was Hope made him like Chahyun, but what. Otherwise he came across as a little stalkerish and overbearing in the beginning lol And Chahyun mostly likes him cuz he thinks he's cute. And I don't really see why him being Hope secretly made Chahyun so annoyed but to be fair, I didn't really get half the gaming drama as someone who tends to not get absorbed in gaming/fandom drama to begin with lol Maybe the novel has better characterization though.
It was okay but it really leaves me feeling more honestly. Oh and Soobin is definitely the top loll I feel like the comment about his arm being around Chahyun's waist and him initiating it by asking to come over was a hint to that.
I kinda wonder if it is a copy or not cuz honestly, isekai tend to have similar plot points anyways. Like a lot of the tropes in The Affairs of the Other World Depend on the Corporate Slave aren't new either. But I eat these stories up regardless lol but also this one and The Affairs of the Other World Depend on the Corporate Slave both originally released in 2020. So I dunno. It is possible, especially since the author said they wanted to try their hand at isekai since it's a popular genre. But again, even Corporate Slave has standard isekai tropes so they could have both looked at the same inspirations.
That aside tho, F in the chat for Hijirikawa for not being able to go back and that entire plot point of investigating the summoning circle being dropped. Low-key wonder if this manga got a rushed ending BECAUSE The Affairs of the Other World Depend on the Corporate Slave exists lol
Also, vol 2 def messed up the royal family relationship because Grasse was stated to be Volk's uncle-in-law. Which normally would mean he'd have the be the spouse of someone related to Volk. So let's say his blood related Aunt's husband or something. But no, Vol 2 said he's actually Volk's dad's blood related brother. (albeit half-brother). Which is just... an uncle. Not an uncle-in-law. Just felt the need to say that.
Tbh that scene of Yeonwoo runnin down the stairs to go after Hwibum who was talking to Hyuk reminded me of the seme from The Third Ending.
I kinda wish they expanded on Hyuk's character cuz the whole thing woulda been more dramatic and interesting if he had more chemistry with Hwibum. I couldn't really sense that he was in love, if we saw more hints of it at the beginning and then the conflict, that angst would have been more delicious lol plus he just vanished with only a mention after that arc was over. I would have loved to see the aftermath because obv Hyuk and Hwibum stayed friends, but what conversation did they have about it? How did they convince Yeonwoo it's okay?
Also, I'm glad Hwibum didn't drop everything to live in the States with Yeonwoo, kinda bothers me when characters do that sometimes because yeah you gotta approach it realistically and take proper steps. Though if Yeonwoo stayed in the states, it would be permanent, so did Hwibum expect to LDR their whole lives? I know some couples irl who basically are this so I guess if both parties are fine with it, it works but. Obv wasn't gonna work with Yeonwoo. Also disappointed Hwibum didn't tell Yeonwoo they actually met in middle school and he helped Hwibum a lot since Yeonwoo was previously jealous of Hyuk having history with Hwibum and how HE'S credited with helping Hwibum a lot.
Also wish Hwibum didn't always immediately fold for Yeonwoo, like he gives him EVERYTHING. Yeonwoo is kinda selfish and I wish he'd like take a step back more or do more things for Hwibum. He wants to be reliable, but Hwibum still does the most work in this relationship, emotional and otherwise.
I'm happy they got married though, that's cute.

It was funny but very second hand embarrassment and bro Jeong-min smiled more in the congratulations art in the Creator's Note than he did in the damn story The panels would even say "smile" and I'd be like WHERE'S THE SMILE
But kept me entertained so good for them, good for them.
