I don't remember this happening in the novel. Iirc the king was super apologetic because he realizes just how much Etienne has been through and he begs for forgiveness. He asks for the chance to be a better father to Etienne and gives him a hug. Etienne is like, "Hey, thanks for the hug because it was actually kind of healing but you are like 20 years (or however old he is) too late. Let's just be casual acquaintances." Lol

i went from hating the mf to absolutely loving him
honestly i'm glad i didn't drop it at season one and stuck with it, i liked the characters and the plot was interesting enough, although a bit short
the art tho, majestic and immaculate, i mean i also stayed because of sa yan beauty
the smut was a bit too much for me, it kinda dulled the importance of some scenes... but in the end they were both enjoying themselves and being so intimate
still the author didn't have to scare us like that-
