intent =/= impact. most people don't consciously think "alright, i'm gonna be racist" and do things. some things are borne of ignorance, not malice. it still doesn't change their negative impact when it comes to race, especially when it's basically "baked in" to society as most people know it.
i don't think the creator of this had any consciously racist intentions, but the setup of this work did not inspire confidence that it would handle the racial dynamics of the story well. as a result of feedback, the creator recognized their limitations (or the publisher simply didn't want the flack) and dropped the work. now they can come out with something else that better plays to their strengths.

If you’re okay with the story, that’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it. But other Black readers are also entitled to feel uncomfortable with a romance between a Black slave and a white master based on a real history of racial slavery.
Saying “I’m Black, so there’s nothing wrong with it” doesn’t speak for the entire Black community. There are plenty of Black readers who found the premise offensive, just as there are some who didn’t.
This isn’t about telling people what they’re allowed to enjoy. It’s about acknowledging that a story built around a real history of slavery is naturally going to be controversial, and people have every right to criticize it if they believe it romanticizes that history.

Like very slowly they fall in love it's more plot in both characters growth as the novel goes on, if u wanna know they officially get together by the end of the Novel so u have a long way to go. Grayson will fall in love by the half of the novel he will be completely in love , Dane takes time and doesn't realise he is in love for a long time (FYI he is in love just denies it) so it takes a lot of stuff happened and at the end they get together so a very long time
