Im just a passerby who read through the replies. This feels more like a misunderstanding that snowballed than anyone being genuinely rude.

Leon's reply didnt read as rude to me. I found the “where are you reading?” question a bit confusing too (even knowing now that 49 was a typo). I had a similar reaction like uhmmm wouldn't it be here on MGo? since theyre commenting here?? so I can see that Leon's reply sounded more confused than anything else. The "girl?" part also sounded casual/informal to me rather than condescending

If anything, this part felt like a jab and more passive-aggressive to me “know the difference between what and where now?” the others were also lingering on leon's reply so it just felt like they were dogpiling on leon instead of letting it go after they clarified it was a typo.

I understand English might not be yalls first language so tone can be easily misread or words/phrases can be used differently. Leon’s reply just sounded confused to me, at least it's how I read it which supports Dixy's point that much of this comes down to interpretation rather than intent.
