Fiction writings that we read that sometimes are based off real things that have happened or just pulling information of living standards that have happened in the past. I'm going to be blunt on this subject folks, because i've seen to many people freaking out over history manga's "OMG I can't believe the author did that!!".
The past is the past. You did not live during that time. You do not get to sit there and try to hold up their standard of living to todays. Their political, race, religion, none of it. Why you ask? Because all of it had nothing to do with you! You might think "It does because it was my ancestors that did it." Yea, and if it wasn't for them surviving during times of no electricity, most countries not having plumping (Rome not included in this). And other things you take for granted today. You would not be here today. They survived a yearly death march of pledges from bugs, you can kill easily today. They dealt with dying at 40 years old of old age (60 if lucky).
They dealt with more things on their plate daily and more stressful just to survive a day. Then you can whine about from this post. So, please. Before you go reading a historical manga and try to compare them. Go do a reenactment of that time without your cell phone hidden somewhere. And not just for a day, make it a good long week. Then you can whine.
