Honestly, it is also considered as cheating if you're already going out with someone regardless how "unselfish" she thought it would be （￣へ￣）. It will impact the other person and torment her majorly.
Her "unselfishness" brought more pain to the other person unlike if she just rejected her confession. Being afraid of hurting her friend is the worst possible plan/thought because regardless how much you care about your friend, one of them are destined to be rejected.
Being afraid isn't an excuse to two time. Cherish your friends and lover differently, if she's (individual person) your friend and a lover at the same time it's fine.

I agree with you! she seemed like she was genuinely in love with the both of them (or at least like) but it just really didn't work out great whatsoever... I feel bad for all of them (￣∇￣")
