I would've been more surprised if we didn't do a gangster story with a new follower without betrayal. But I'm hoping it doesn't fall into THAT trope; the leader is probably the uke, and BLs like this have a weird habit of making the uke seem powerful, only to be weaker than the seme. A typical BL pattern would mean the new recruit manages to outsmart the other gangsters, get dirt on the leader, protect him, etc while the gangster has his moments but usually gets kidnapped and/or violated. Hopefully they don't go that route. (And why's the artist look familiar?)
