I have read the novel.. The mermaid one is the 2nd novel, this is the 1st novel.
The 1st novel is about Lu Shangjin (ML) (Falcon Alpha) & Yan Yi (MC) (Rabbit omega). Both of their relationships starts on pretty rocky and lots of misunderstanding..but it really is because of ML'S TRASHY DAD. LIKE RLLY. Why? because he wanted Yan Yi's powerful gland so ML just want to protect Yan Yi hence the planning on surgery of his gland and so on
There will a lot of dog blood fight and all which will make you cursed tf out of ML but later on, he will get a redemption arc..pretty satisfying I could say .. I don't really remember as it has been a long time since I finished the novel so yeah, you can check the raws as well..
Anyway, I can only say this, we can curse or hate tf out of ML, but we can't change the fact that Lu Shangjin and Yan Yi are the end game lmao.. anyway, their cute and only son also appear in the mermaid one too.
to the one who shipped Yan Yi With the Lion Alpha.. (heartbroken.jpg) but hey, the lion alpha ends up with a potential new mate and he is super cute ^^

In the 2nd novel, there is an arc where the ML (white lion) have a mission to find the missing heir/ceo of Shao's pharmaceutical company which is actually Shao Wenjing himself alongside finding a test subject that ran away, which they believe have a connection with the company.
Anyway, the good news is that they successfully found Shao Wenjing, bad news is, they found Shao Wenjing's corpse without his gland, the corpse is surrounded with spider webs. (spider webs are big plot key here)
The reason as why this happened is the company got attacked by gland hunter and Wenjing died to protect his little brother.
I don't want to spoil much about this as I really encouraged you guys to read the novel as this arc is really interesting and heart wrenching for both of the brothers.

Between Yan Yi and Shao Wenchi (his little bro), he will pick Wenchi in a heartbeat as he is the only family that Wenjing have. But really I think that the author loves dog blood drama. Lu Shangjin love is toxic (the problem lies on ML's parents as well, Lu Lin & Ye Wan) which cannot be denied so Yan Yi can't even catch a break for a long time until the redemption arc where he become much stronger in terms of mental and physical. (Yan Yi is weak, but he is just an omega who actually just wants to be loved by his alpha and not involved in this bulls*it, But Lu Lin's experimentation and training on him fcked it up) Hence, he become a co-leader of PBB alongside Lu Shangjin in the 2nd novel.
