Honestly? I hope this story ends with the MC being single and not ending up with any of them. It was clear from the very start that both relationships were heavily toxic and I'm glad the MC managed to realize that in the end and actually wanted to end things in a respectful and healthy way.
By communicating your feelings instead of cutting people off right away (although it's okay to do that sometimes), it'll let all sides properly reflect on their actions. Suprisingly, the MC also got to do that which is rare with Yaoi these days. What's even rarer though, is the MC ending up single. If this story takes that route I'll be pleasantly surprised. People these days need to realize that you don't need to be in a romantic relationship to be happy.
It would be nice ro have a MC choose themselves entirely because as you said you don't need a romantic relationship be happy but it is a BL love triangle and it's already been confirm by the writer that there is an endgame
