Those are called cauliflower ears, common with boxers. The artist drew them like that on purpose and it's a well thought out detail :]

That's what happens when the cartilage in your ear gets severely damaged and doesn't heal right, lowk almost happened to me when my helix piercing got infected

I didn't know!!!! Erghh I feel bad for saying the ears look weird. But I don't want to delete the comments since perhaps others might be thinking similar to me. At least I learned something new. 'cauliflower ears'
