Ik the mother heavily implied that the grandpa was a terrible person and how she literally escaped from him after suffering for so long but I still thing the r*pe part was soooooooo unnecessary idc how much of an asshole the author want the grandpa to be or how much the author wanna show us that there’s no redemption for the grandpa that part should not have existed at all

Ending is kinda "bittersweet" and just acceptance. Read a thread of spo and he still ended up w ml. He did attempt suicide, had 2(?) years timeskip, everyone thought he died except ml. He's the only one who kept looking/waiting.
After the ts, ml tried to understand mc BUT he is and will always be a psychopath. So ending is kinda mc just accepting his fate. Also the part that he knows he is also dependent on ml(as we can see here, since childhood he still keeps sticking to ml)
Overall it's a compromise on both sides. Only redeeming point is no more sideboys and it's finally just the two of them
