Genuinely one of the few times I want an extremely toxic pairing to stay together cuz they self-destruct easily when seperated.

Hawano March 10, 2026 11:02 am

nothing is more frustrating than a peak story not getting an update AND the original source of the story does not have a proper English translation ╥﹏╥

The "Slice of Life" tag stills gets me This shit is anything BUT Slice of Life.

Hawano March 3, 2026 10:19 pm

The main character is already better than most female leads in manhwa cuz she gets shit done on her own and doesnt need a man to fix her problems. The male lead mightve helped her a couple of times, but it's clear that she couldve handled it perfectly well without him. That's how you write.an good female character.

Man, I remember seething in rage cuz of the king in season 2 that I had to LITERALLY walk laps in my room to cool down. Season 3 onwards was a major disappointment though. It felt like the creators did not want to take risks and it became a dull storyline that you can predict what'll happen most of the time

Hawano March 2, 2026 9:52 pm

The author tried so hard to push the narrative that she's a "villainess" prior to the stereotypical engagement cancel scene but she legit just come across as a victim. Also, I've literally never read a shoujo where we're in the perspective of the girl that the prince chose during coming of age ceremony lol. It's always the girl who got broken up with cuz she's a "villainess"

Yall, here are the novel chapters for this manhwa:

https://booktoki469.com/novel/2965002?stx=%EC%9D%B4%EC%84%B8%EA%B3%84+%EC%BA%A0%ED%95%91%EC%9C%BC%EB%A1%9C+%ED%9E%90%EB%A7%81+%EB%9D%BC%EC%9D%B4%ED%94%84

I suggest you translate the chapters by copy and pasting it through ChatGPT. The English translation is surprisingly good enough for you to not be confused.

    Wow Thank you!!!

But for mine, a pop up to translate the entire page to English show up and when I clicked all words are readable to English now. Translation looks alright too. Just wondering if you think its accurate as well like ChaptGPT

Google translate is extremely unreliable and headache-inducing. They mess up the character names and pronouns quite often. The story itself is written in 3rd POV, but Google translation sometime swap it to first person. If youre used to reading quite trashy novel translation, then go ahead and continue. To give it a rating, Google auto translate is around 3/10 while ChatGPT is 8/10 in terms of translation. You can still control the AI by correcting the names and pronouns, while you cant do that with Google.

I advice still using ChatGPT as the manhwa sometimes skipped some parts in the novel. I notice that the wizard "Romen" lacks presence in the manhwa, but in the novel, he hung out with Randolph quite a lot so idk why the manhwa skipped him entirely.

Oh Got it. Good point. Thank you for that! I guess I'll ask my bestfriend ChatGPT to translate the entire novel then hahahhaah.

    Thanks for the heads-up ♡

Ascendance of a Bookworm lowkey ruined my perceptions when it comes to noble society. I just finished P5V12 novel the other day and the story has such an extremely meticulous and amazing structure when it comes to nobles.

Whenever I read other manhwas/manga where the MC is a count, duke, or even royalty, my mind would go “Hmm they shouldnt do this. Why is the king walking alone? Where are scholars, attendants, and guards? Why is the duke casually touching a commoner? Why is this noble speaking to a king like theyre work friends?”

Other noble story nowadays just seems like a second rate trash cuz Ascendance of a Bookworm set the bar too high up T_T This story knows what a “noble” truly means.

Agree! You need to really immerse yourself inside the story if you want to understand the world they're living in. We are like Myne, our common sense doesn't work here so it really took time for her to adjust, me too even just from a reader perspective. Lol.

Nobility aside, it has also magic that will warp your mind more or less.

All in all I enjoyed her journey in attaining what she desire so earnestly.

Also, who she ended up was actually pretty clear to me since the beginning, and the only hunch that I'm proud of. Hehe. And whether they realized it or not, they're the only 3rd couple out of nobility that is actually bound by love and not only by political reasons. Though too bad other readers seems not to get it.

Now, I just want to read more of their journey until they got kid of their own.

Yeah most noble stories don't really do much research of how that upper class works both in regards of Western nobility and Chinese nobility ( tho Apothecary diaries are one of the few exceptions). Most uses fictional drama and other fictional media (manga/novel/webtoon) as reference for their world building instead of searching it up. "fictional" references with poor research meant to glaze the heroine no matter what= thus most writing make the nobility mindset and society superficial and inconsequential, a Cinderella kind of extreme. Where often the nobles that aren't MC and her entourage are portrayed as power hungry idiots.
Like you see these noble girls introducting inventions one after another with no care of the consequences (make people lose jobs etc) and is profit minded...

+ most stories often are 21th century coded in terms of mindset and aesthetic.
For example one thing I always found funny of these villainess webtoons is that the heroine always have flowing hair and overly frilly dresses. Funny 'cause irl nobles mainly Victorian and edwardian etc era, a young adult woman has to have her hair tied (which is something this serie also kept and I appreciated that). While VERY often the dresses are Lolita inspired which are 21th century niche fashion style.

As a librarian, what Myne says in the story about all the method to produce books and the Dewey system are all accurate. The thing with the dye is a new discovery for me tho. Actually I even proposed to the head librarian (my boss) if they can get this serie in our shelves. They also loved the story but they were sad that it has child labor because they taught the serie would be amazing and education for kids. But we got to wait for more volumes to get loc.

Anyways I always remember that these are fictional fantasy nobility and world building created by artist and writers who for the majority prob have no commercial or accounting background thus the whole taxing, balance, dividing profit etc when it comes to commercializing products are delegated to people more capable who conveniently are not shown in the story.

My point is don't think too hard about it.
Most authors don't write realistic world building as their goal.

    ChibiPotato1213 April 6, 2026 8:21 am

Agree very complex but lowkey very tiring world to live in..lol.. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Author made the world building as realistic and unforgiving as possible even with the magic elements. In their Q&A they said they used over 50 books as references for the world building. Note author is also an adult woman with kids that started writing the serie prob in their mid 30s or early 40s so maybe that's explain the lack of romantice and drama we see in isekai nobles stories in webtoons & manga and novels

    Ekaterin April 27, 2026 10:06 pm

I have read quite a few Japanese and Chinese light/web novels, and Bookworm has probably the best world building of any of them. Very unique and meticulous is the right word for it. My only real complaint is how the story abandons early plot elements (technology development) completely in the later parts, focusing purely on the political aspect. I would have loved to see more instances of Rozemyne bringing some basic modern technology to revolutionize Ehrenfest and Yurgenschmidt in general.
