What I'm asking for here is a character development. Instead of crying and having to rely on her man to come to her rescue all the time, it's obviously better that she can be able to save herself, whether with wits or physical strength. Sure. I'm not asking for that kind of nonsense either. She's traumatized, yes but she needs to get herself out of it. She needs to heal herself slowly but surely along the way. That's what a character development is. In fact, I'm not sure if you even want a natural character development when you're basically saying it's okay to seek protection all the time under the disguise of trauma.
I'm not sure you understand how trauma works or if you've only dealt with it through the lens of your entertainment. There will be a lot of regression before progression. She cannot snap herself out of it or get herself out of it, not by herself. While I do understand it's frustrating to see someone flounder and cower in certain scenarios this is not one where it is justified considering the abused she has dealt by the hands of a parent from young and is now in a situation with a foreign man and his men who outwardly despise her.
Natural character development taking those into consideration will be slow. So I'm telling you to measure your expectations.
