The plot that's happening right now is their lives in the future. Honestly the pacing is a mess, since there's still many things left untold when they were students, but suddenly they're adults. Still a good read though

The time skip is very recent. Most part of the chapters still when they were in school. And things were already well developed: he Tian and Mo started dating and we got to know a little bit about Jian Yi family past.
The time skip happens because in middle of high school Jian Yi disappears and He Tian go study abroad. So they stop talking to each other.

I wouldn't say they're dating even though it looks like they are. Little Mo never gave He Tian a proper answer after all, so we still aren't sure whether or not they're official or not. I personally don't think they are because of the lack of context we get, that's why I believe the pacing is a mess
