istg i HATE the “i hate women cus of stupid trauma that literally could b resolved if i actually had a brain” trope. dropping it bc a women hating ml will always be a red flag. also his “trauma” is soooooo dumb…. men can be just as greedy bud. maybe if u were intelligent and not so self pitying you’d realize that. hope he gets his dick chopped off.
omg can i just say i adore mimi? the fact that she tried to understand the princesses situation with her status in her empire and even wants to protect her??? she truly is girls support girls. this manga prob has some of my fave relationships between women bc mimi is so empathetic and kind to other girls. she truly is a national treasure. i also love the princess and i can’t wait to see her genuine personality! i rly hope she can change her empire and get women more recognition but alas that’ll b difficult… i believe in her!!!!
fate/reincarnation stories r weird. it seems like this one is under the impression that the moral question: is someone the same person if they reincarnate? isn’t a thing and kind of disregards it. ppl r a product of life experiences, circumstances, and coincidence. i think it’s a little stupid to try to hold this dude accountable for smthin his hundreds of years old self did. like is he REALLY the same person? can u hold him accountable regardless of that? do the crimes even belong to him? maybe this is a little deep for a gay sex manhwa but i’m annoying…. i just wish they dived into these things more. he clearly isn’t the same person, just look at his behavior. it just seems a bit naive? if that makes sense? the whole manhwa is a bit odd w reincarnation. i wanted to see the struggle w the mc and ml and how the mc’s old self isn’t him anymore and how the ml needs to adapt to that but after s1 they kinda scrapped that amazing idea. it’s a bit lazy. the manhwa is still fun but is pretty shallow.
it’s different for him bc there wasn’t a moment in all of those years where he actually started over as a new person. he kept all of his memories the entire time, when he died he just got a new body. he may have learnt more over time but he had the same feelings bc he stayed the same person in his mind.
my point still stands tho. i’d argue that memories DONT make the person. experiences do. my memories from 10 years ago don’t dictate who i am today, and it’s the same for him. after hundreds of years it would be unbelievably naive and simpleminded for the author to conclude: he’s the same person. ppl r always capable of change, and no amount of “memories” (from someone else) will dictate that changing. anyway that’s my little rant LOLOL
No cause I was thinking the same thing, if bl manhwas are gonna go down the reincarnation route, I can only pray that turn it out well. I do agree, they had so much potential and than forgot about the lore. I love the lore (don't get me wrong I'm always down for almost 24/7 smutty scenes) but I love lore and this manhwa didn't exactly hit it like I thought it was going to be
people are always capable of change, and losing their memories. but that doesn’t just make them a new person and that doesn’t absolve them of anything nor does it mean he isn’t responsible for his past actions. it’s clear from the story that his multiple lives didn’t change him bc he was still waiting for mc to reborn and still felt the same way about him when he was.
I feel like it's still the same person because its the same soul in the same body and the feelings he holds for the mc is still there along with his past actions. He clearly never connected with his past lives the way he did with his first and he seems to hold the same values he did since the beginning towards the dragon so he should be held accountable. In the beginning neither the mc nor the ml thought the mc was the dragons past lover the mc was just doing it to keep the blessing of the dragon, so the whole "im a different person now" wasn't an idea they scrapped it was more like it wasn't an idea at all.To me this manhwa is an alternative way to look at the whole reincarnation trope where there is angst but not in the usual way
that’s a good point! i don’t agree w him holding the same ideals tho bc him burning the dragon books could have multiple meanings. i do think it’s worth looking at ur perspective tho. i think it might come down to personal views on reincarnation? it’s always fun to see multiple interpretations! i will say tho the “same soul” is always iffy to me. what even is a soul? is it only memories? or is it deeper? to me this story rly emphasized memories and that’s where my main problem comes from. maybe i’m just frustrated bc they never really defined “soul”. it felt too vague to me. maybe i’m just too logical XD i feel like i need to reread from a spiritual perspective
hmm maybe. i do think tho that his case is 10000000x more complex than many in the comments make it. i don’t think i can safely say he is still a “bad person”. we haven’t seen enough of him currently to actually dictate that. i think a lot of opinions r influenced by seeing his “bad” side first. maybe the author will explore his new self more? tbh there’s not enough info to rly determine if he’s the same.
i’ve never been big on manga that show the main characters having explicit relationships with ppl other than the one i prefer. i started this and assumed id get that same bad taste in my mouth, but before i dropped it i had a moment of doubt that caused me to continue. i am SOOO glad i did. unlike other manga that have themes like this i never doubted the validity and passion between the two lovers. despite it only being a meager 7 chapters i could FEEL the chemistry between them. to me, they would switch from intoxicated city nightlife to youthful summer days in a way that made it feel natural. the two stark contrasts blended perfectly into a pure and passionate love story. i like the frequent mention of grapes. grapes are visually sexual and indecent but you won’t forget that feeling of childish happiness while eating them. unlike other fruits they represent the process of maturity perfectly. an afternoon snack given to you by a parent turned into an adult indulgence. maybe i’m getting too poetic but a simple and moving story like this (read late at night) made me want to be a little cringe! it makes me happy to see gay relationships portrayed in a delicate but raw fashion. 10/10!!
can i just say: i adore the relationship between our lovely villainess and delightful saintess. i’ve read HUNDREDS of reincarnation/transmigration fantasy stories and my hated trope in all of them is the “evil” heroine and “good” villain. this manga and one of my other faves (shout out: medea reincarnation theory) does an AMAZING job at fleshing out BOTH sides! i can’t even hate liz bc so far it seems like she’s willing to listen to alexia!! liz ISNT a bad person, she’s simply naive and idealistic and has never faced legitimate criticism! alexia challenging this is something she’s never faced and tbh i respect liz for her willingness to listen (even if she doesn’t really get it most of the time lolol). i’m super excited to see where this goes and i’m praying they don’t go down the typical and bland “evil nice girl” route. i want liz and alexia to stay unfriendly (but do i see a little respect in there?) rivals!! fantasy isekai CAN be well written and compelling when it doesn’t trudge through the evil swamp of tropes and cliches. and i’ll say it: MALE LEAD IS SUPERB <333 his romance might not be front and center but the chemistry is there and i luvvvv a ML who loves his FL the way she is (though, in my eyes, HE belongs to HER)!!!
what is up w bl manga and jst being INSANELY misogynistic? why is EVERY woman in this story a super villain type character who is desperate to get laid?? the author is 100% a woman which makes it worse. also the ukes design is gross. u can make a feminine man w/o playing into stereotypes. when will bl manga stop profiting off the hatred of women, fetishization of gay men, and r@pe culture, and instead start telling real and emotional gay love stories??????????? anyway if u wanna read a bl w a GOOD fem ml check out “ Chirijiri Yuku no”!
most of the potential ml’s in this story were tolerable or even likeable (mieger <3) but juhua just SUCKED. my least fave ml trope ever is the “i hate women bc of my made up trauma”. let’s look at it this way: he hates women bc the women in his country are “greedy” and “shallow”. i call BS. in his country women are OBVIOUSLY oppressed and what happens when youre a minority with limited opportunities for happiness? u grab onto that slim chance of happiness as HARD AS YOU CAN. i’d argue that those women juhua loathes so much r a million times more resourceful and smarter than him. how can u claim to want to dismantle a misogynistic system while BEING PART OF THE PROBLEM???? if he TRULY wanted to change the country he would realize that those women act “disgustingly” bc they HAVE TO to survive! he’s boring, stupid, and an ugly misogynist. somebody rly should’ve smacked him bc he got 0 character development through the whole story. ugh.

i’ve noticed that dragonflies are reoccurring a little bit too much for it to JUST be a stylistic choice. like most of them are white and they’re usually seen around guwon but wtf was up with that black one around ch3? i’m wondering if dragonflies have a unique symbolism/cultural significance? if anyone knows let ME know im dying over here also im like 100% sure guwon isn’t human. like he has white eyes when every other character has real human features. every other character has human eye colors except him… also those neck/ankle tattoos are so odd and specifically placed that they need to be important. also the whole opening doors into light? first chapter and when they first arrive at the town? also opening the door to the children leads to darkness? idk man maybe i’m reading too much into but… some parts seem really religious and mystical. mortality is an important theme here so i’m wondering if guwon is some death/life/afterlife figure? is he supposed to be sisphyus here? thr whole town could be “sisphyus” what with the pyramid layout and the importance on work.
WAIT A DAMN MINUTE. i’m putting money on guwon representing sisyphus. i forgot ab the whole town thing and chaining up thanatos. maybe guwon did something to “chain up death” like in the myth. it’d explain why no one is dying, just like in the myth. i’m wondering is the sisyphus importance isn’t in his most popular myth (the rock) but in him cheating death. also could explain guwon’s otherworldly looks.
