it’s only a one way bond and has no effect on Chase, it only effects Josh because he was the only one whose ear was bitten, that’s how bonds work in the kiss me universe. When an omega’s ear is bitten by an alpha, they can only be effected and aroused by that alpha’s pheromones, although they can still smell the pheromones of other alphas and omegas but they don’t have any effect, but the alpha who bit them (unless that alpha’s ear was also bitten in return by the omega they bit) is not tied down and can still smell and be aroused by the pheromones of any omega they meet, not just the pheromones of the omega whose ear they bit. However, the bond bite on an omega’s ear can be bitten over by a different alpha, breaking the old bond with the previous alpha and forming a new bond with the new alpha, as a result omegas in this universe can actually break old bonds and form new ones over and over as many times as they like, but it’s the opposite for alphas. In this universe, an alpha only has ONE chance to bond with an omega, once their ear is bitten by an omega they are bound to them for life and can never again smell or be aroused by the pheromones of another omega unless the omega who bit their ear dies before them, that’s the only way to break the bond. But because it was only Josh who had his ear bitten by Chase, and Josh did not bite Chase’s ear in return, Josh is the only one who is bonded and the only one who can only be aroused or effected by Chase’s pheromones, not the other way around. Also, Josh chose to keep it a secret because Chase for years did not even remember that it was Josh that he slept with during one of his ruts, it wasn’t until they reunited 5 years later during the current job of Josh’s team working protection for Chase that he remembered, plus he doesn’t remember that Josh is an omega and that he bit his ear because he was so out of it during his rut because his pheromones had built up so much. Also, Josh has said before, even to Chase, that apart from Chase, he has in the past only ever dated, had sex with, and been sexually attracted to women, Chase is the exception, also Josh does not want his omega status revealed at his workplace as he worries it will impact how he’s viewed and might even cost him his job. He had plenty of his own pretty valid reasons for not wanting to tell Chase about Pete, he didn’t even know he was pregnant with Pete until after he had finished working security for Chase and was back home on the other side of the country, and how would he have explained to Chase that he was pregnant with his child when Chase only had a few very broken memories, which he mistook as a dream, of the time they slept together, remember Chase did not exactly have the best personality for the first like 2 dozen chapters, really up until he and Josh were stuck alone in the desert together and talked and Josh protected Chase from getting attacked by coyotes, before that Chase and Josh had literally gotten into fist fights and yelled at each other in argument.

None of this gives Josh the right to keep Pete a secret from Chase. He stole five years of Pete's live from Chase. And it's not fair to Pete either.

At the end of the day, Josh had no right to hide Pete from his father. Josh stole five years of Pete's life from Chase. And Pete has every right to know his father too. Grow up. That's not an insult, it's advice.

not sure if you’ve actually read the novel but it seems that you haven’t, but Chase actually isn’t upset or mad at Josh when he finds out Pete is his and Josh’s kid and meets Pete for the first time, he completely understands why Josh was so hesitant and kept it secret for that long, because he says he was very immature and would not have been a good parent back when Josh was pregnant with Pete and then gave birth. Chase does everything he can to make up for lost time with Pete but doesn’t hold it against Josh and is NOT mad at him, he’s just happy that they can all be together as a family now. Also, Josh and Chase go on to have another 2 kids, their second kid is a little boy who looks the exact same as Chase and we actually get to see him and Pete in the side story chapters of kiss me, liar. Chase himself doesn’t end up being mad or holding it against Josh once he talks it out with him and hears the reasons why Josh did what he did, so why the fuck are YOU so fucking mad bro?!

Super Agree on this. Yes, it's regrettable to think Chase missed out some Pete's childhood but let's face it, it was a good decision for Josh at that moment to keep Pete because Chase wasn't really on the position to be a good father.

That is not the point. I'm glad Chase isn't mad. But that doesn't change the fact that Josh robbed both Pete and Chase of five years.

I have a teenage son. And feeling him kick for the first, watching him take his first step, smile for the first time, hearing him say his first word, his big firsts. These first things that happened within the first years of his life were some of the greatest joys of my life.

And I know they were his father's too. He robbed Chase of more than just time.

I’m in my mid 20s… and yeah it’s definitely you who needs to chill the fuck out, it’s a fictional fucking story! Also, Chase got to experience all those things with their other 2 children. Not to mention that some men who become fathers, at any age, aren’t in it for the sweet, heart warming moments, they’re only a father to please the wishes of their family and follow societal expectations, to fulfil the genetically engrained instinct to pass on their genes, they don’t actually care at all about their kid/s, they don’t help with any of the actual work that goes into raising a child, leaving it all to the mother, they never lift a finger to change a diaper, get up at 2am to feed their baby, do laundry, settle the baby when they are crying, help out with other chores around the house to help lessen the strain on the mother. Congrats to you for lucking out and having children with a man who actually cares and wants to be actively engaged in the lives of the children you have together. What about the fathers who knowingly abandon their children that they know exist, don’t pay child support, never see their kids even though there are no legal limitations stopping them from seeing them, never give them presents and a card on their birthday or christmas? Where is your hate for those men? Because they’re the ones who deserve hate. My own grandfather abandoned my biological father and divorced my grandma when my biological father was only 3 years old, he had been a part of my biological father’s life for those first 3 years, including when my grandma was pregnant, but he still chose to cheat, leave, and then start a new life and family with the woman he cheated with, had 2 children with her and lived pretending like he never even had a son in the first place. Then once my biological father turned 18 and he no longer had any legal responsibility to pay child support anymore, he completely vanished, literally moved to a different area, changed his phone number, etc, so that my biological father could not trace him anymore. What about the men who abuse their children that they have “been there for” since the moment they were born, leave them with PTSD and a permanently skewed sense of trust towards all men, leave them needing to be in therapy for the next decade to cope with and overcome the psychological trauma and damage they inflicted upon their own flesh and blood? If anyone needs to grow up and learn that the world is not black and white but morally grey in just about every aspect, it’s you, just because you’re older than me does not mean you’re wiser than me, I mean you have a teenage child yet you still think everything is either “good” or “bad” and use childish, belittling insults like you’re 13 years old.
