i got to the season 1 finale and... this whole thing is a mess. the duke is absolutely a disgusting man and i have to just LIST these things he did that genuinely pmo:

1. was disinterested in her their whole engagement. idgaf if bianca was a "villainess" before she got that book. she loved him DOWN and he barely spared her a glance until she "changed." what frustrates me most about this is that the crown prince said he liked her before and after her "change." like, she has an ENTIRELY better option sitting right there instead of that useless duke.

2. oh yeah, this should've been first: the fact that he killed her at the end of the original story. this is where bianca grinds my gears because, no matter what, YOU NEED TO LEAVE THAT MAN. for him to even swing his sword at you is crazy regardless of how you acted of who you hurt. he couldn't throw you in prison?? he HAD to kill you??? whatever. idk and idc about his reasoning but he remains a threat that she NEEDS to avoid.

3. him refusing her request to absolve the engagement. this. THIS is so creepy weird and scary. i cannot romanticize this a bit because imagine this: you know your fiance is gonna kill you in the future, so you ask to break up from him since he's been disinterested with you the whole time and suddenly he won't allow it. is he... insane? that is such a frightening situation it actually had me tweaking when he did that. + The only time he really took her request to break the engagement serious was when the crown prince mentioned it. Why did he only listen when a man outside his relationship said something? The duke has no respect and must be dealt with... SWIFTLY!!!

4. Whenever he used the kids to sit close with her or act flirtatious with bianca i just had to roll my eyes SO hard. like he had to find ways to get close to her because he knew otherwise she would move away. that's not cute at all to me, but to each their own i guess.

5. him knowing NOTHING about her. the scene where he literally admits this and then bianca goes on to list a bunch of things he's particular about actually had me swinging at the air. bianca is cursed with such an incompetent man and the duke is blessed with such a thoughtful and attentive woman. i have no idea why the authour thought that little bit was touching or cute- IT WASN'T. it just showed how little he cared about her. Then he goes on to confess to and kiss her... bye. I just can't. Where does he get the audacity?? I just know his kissing face is horrendous too.

Anyway, if you got this far then I'm saluting you because we are comrades in our hatred for the ML. The prince is FAR better for her in every aspect, and they have way more chemistry together than the snoozefest that is Bianca and the duke. Even the other guy too! I totally forgot his name, but the redhead, Maria's brother. He couldn't stand for the disrespect the duke was showing Bianca by being so disinterested in her. Even if he lost the fight, he clocked him saying he'd rather serve an empress than a duchess. This man KNOWS Bianca deserves better and is even willing to see her with another man before she marries the duke. Ugh. And the duke's constant fantasies of starting a family with her just pmo even more. Like who is this guy fr?? Who do you think you are?? You don't even deserve to imagine this. Such a useless man.

I had to drop ts because I know Bianca likes him after all this and I just cannot sit back and watch- and I usually like reading things that make me angry like this. Bianca, stand up. Like, with haste. Marry the prince or even that redhead or ANYTHING. Drop that worthless duke and live your life without him. PLEASE. Readers, if you found yourself swooning for him, I'd like to study your brain. More importantly, however, I'd like to advise you to limit this taste you have in men to FICTION only. Value yourself and know there's a prince around the corner who would worship the ground you walk on. Like, there is seriously no way I'm using this manhwa as a cautionary tale rn... THAT'S how much I dislike this man I'm ctfu.

okay i'm only like on chap 34 but am i the only one who was like put off by the whole memory erasing thing they did after reynold confessed??? like for me that seems a bit extreme. like realistically of course it'd be awkward with erinda and reynold after he confessed but i feel like time would've been enough to smooth things over. PLUS i feel like she was right in feeling awkward because number one: it's kind of an awkward situation, number two: reynold is like visibly jealous when she's with luke.

i dunno. i guess my issue is just with how extreme the solution is for something like that. plus i feel like it's just the natural consequence of confessing to someone who doesn't like you. instead of dealing with it how it is, you erase her mind to keep the peace?? whatever maybe it's normal for them considering they're in a universe that has magic but to me it's just like bro deal w it.
