If you had one parent left who—thankfully enough—treats you very well that you don't even feel the loneliness of the death of your other parent after years, you'd feel a deep sense of attachment and fidelity to them, right? And if, per chance, you find out that that parent "betrayed" your family years ago and even kept that "other family" beside yours for the entirety of your life, to the point that they felt like your own, could you have confronted your parent immediately with all your might? In addition, the problems stacked up one after another, causing a PREGNANT WOMAN, stress beyond her imagination. Could you have done that if you were her? Because let's be honest, even the smartest and most sane scholar would make a mistake on his lifelong research if that happened to them. What's more if she's a heavily pregnant noble lady who's been sheltered all her life? Imagine the horror the felt when she found out. In my opinion, it's because she wanted to keep her family intact that's why she did what she did. If she had confronted her father prematurely without doing anything beforehand, things would have soured even more. But yes, she should have visited her father earlier, and she KNOWS that.
P.S. This was not written as an offense to everyone who said that about the fl. Like the other comments that addressed comments like that said, if you don't like it, drop it. If it's not your cup of tea, don't pour it on the heads of innocent people. Read this manhwa with sympathy and empathy, and understand what led to the lead character's decision to broaden your perspective. That's what these stories are for.
I randomly saw a post featuring lil this manhwa and saved it without any thought. I js came across it a few hours ago and gave it a try and HOLY SHIT THIS IS PEAK. I WAS 11 CHAPTERS IN AND IM ALREADY A SOBBING MESS. I love their character development.
ML's character development:
At first I was frustrated and mad, and I thought that he couldn't possibly redeem himself to my satisfaction but HOLY PEAK WAS I WRONGGGG. It wasn't fast paced, but it also wasn't slow paced. It was perfect. We got to know him better, and understood why he WAS the way he WAS. I really love how he took it upon himself to change and kept his word. 10/10
FL's character development:
At first, I thought the FL was so pitiful—and she was. She REALLY was. I also thought that she bore no fault from her father's misdeeds, but I guess that was half right and half wrong. Her ignorance was sin, and I love how she took it upon herself to find out the truth after picking herself up. It was also unexpected that she became a military nurse. I LOVE THAT FOR HER. She redeemed herself too, so 10/10
Story:
Overall, it was amazing. Full of angst but will leave you wanting more. I hate how they killed off Catherine tho ohmygod my baby But anyways, like I said—the story's pace was just right. She didn't forgive him too quickly, and the chasing arc was just MMMMHHHH YES. Tho I really do yearn for more chapters where they get their own kid, or at least adopt I WISH THEY ADOPTED JOSEPH THO
Also, I love how there wasn't any love rivals. It shows that the only problem in their marriage was really just their selves and their unresolved problems. This story is a solid proof that you can make an angst filled story without unnecessary drama caused by cheating and what-not. (I don't think we can consider Ryan Fromm as a love rival bcs COME ON. HE'S LIKEABLE AND FUNNY. plus, he's JUST FL's friend—a reliable friend, at that—whether he harbored feelings for her or not. Give the man some credit
