Finished the novel, but I kept waiting for that heartfelt mother–son bonding moments. Sadly, it never truly arrived until the very very end, and even then, it felt far too brief. Instead, the story was consumed by the Duke and Duchess’s endless push-and-pull drama, especially during her pregnancy and escape. While the main plot left me wanting more, I found some comfort in the side stories which at least offered glimpses of genuine family connection
