There's no reason to reciprocate someone's feeling if you don't like them. It's simple, really. However something you don't do is lead them on and coerce them into having sex with you. I can understand that it's hard to not be able to be intimate and take someone home, but I fear that's a comprise you make when you live with someone. Especially if they own the house. The reason why the OG MC was unable to move on was because he was being let on and because the ML wanted to have sex, it didn't matter with who as long as he was satisfied.
Instead of removing himself from the situation completely or just staying sex free (I forgot the word mb lolll) he decided to rope the MC into having sex and continued to add fuel to his feelings. Now the MC is not completely blameless. He's a grown man who could've just refused and or kicked ml out. But here's where I will admit that i am biased. MC clearly was a kind person, a pushover, and cared deeply for ML as a person and a friend. His feelings obviously grew into something more. So he felt like he couldn't refuse, he probably thought if they continued to get close their relationship would grow into something else and I feel this is especially true when ML coerced him into having sex. IMO, I would be delusional and think my crush was interested in me but I'm also an idiot so ig not everyone can see this point of view.
All in all, I'm so mad and sad for OG MC. He was clearly mentally unstable and was battling depression. It didn't help that his crush would never love him back. He also clearly doesn't have a good support system that tries to understand him I feel like. Idk it felt like the ML didn't actually care about MCs feelings and just stayed cuz he needed a place and a job. It was more of an obligation than compassion for his friend. And it sucks even more when ML said he didn't ask for all the things MC did for him, which fair, but at least be grateful? MC needed help mentally, ML brushed his feelings to the side used him for his whims. Then MC goes on a suicidal hike to try and get attention (which is a cry for help) then dies in the process when he clearly still wanted to live. It feels like he just wanted ML to care about him WHICH MAKES ME SO SAD
Like this shit happens irl when people can't see their worth and just want to be loved. I used to be like this too obviously not to this degree but I struggled mentally. Thankfully I had a support system but many people don't. This story just kinda hits close to home ig. I think it's an ok story especially with the Ghost being a lesson for the ML. Like if he wasn't going to understand his faults when MC was alive, then there's a lesson to be learned when you already lost what you couldn't see was right in front of you. Pretty dope ig cuz it's tormenting him at least lol
