This is sort of like the topic of euthanasia. Would you attempt to save them, and have them suffer through the pain? Or put them to rest, and send them off less painfully?
If I were suicidal.... I would be pretty pissed off if some unknown good samaritan attempts to "save" me for their own personal relief.
