Okay hear me out after reading this chapter it got me thinking, do you remember in ch 173 when Ryu said to Madoka ā WE'RE BOTH DAMAGED GOODS. THAT'S WHAT PULLED US TOGETHERā.
When you think about it Ryu has said throughout the hole series that he is damaged and he knows it, he is always honest about heās feeling or desires even though he knows itās twisted.
Iām not saying his behavior is okay at all but when you read his chapter and Koharu says that Ryu is still the same child he was when they first met as children. A child inside a grown up body that itself says a lot and explains the ways Ryu is now and why he is behaving like he does. A person who has been neglected from childhood and has traumas he still hasnāt come over, stuck as a child and donāt want to be lonely. It takes my perspective in another view and I can understand him better as a person though the hole story, when thinking back from all his action from the start.
Also I think and believe Koharu is more special to him than the others, she is a strong and honest woman. She doesnāt have a struggled past and was grown up in a warm family. Ryu has never said that Koharu is ādamagedā, he has said it to Madoka and Yuzu before when they met earlier. For him Koharu is a more stable person when it comes to his emotional baggageās. They donāt have a heavy past and their feelings is mutual when it comes to love. But I do think he cares and love the other two but I think there is a more special bond between Ryu and Koharu
When I first read this when it had not any official English translation yet I was so angry, felt frustrated, rage and everything. After some years and I read it again and tries to understand all the characters itās easier to like and understand this story. This story is written very well, we are used to a relationship where is normal to be 2, but if our society had accepted a poly relationship then we would viewed this differently and would be accepting this more then we do now, also all the characters has their flaws and has their struggles and past. They are only humans and still very young when they go into this poly relationship.
All in all itās a good written story, I have felt laughter, anger, frustration, sadness and so on, my belly hurt really bad sometimes especially when Ryu was trying to get Madoka back.

I absolutely loved it, the pair may not have had the best starting but the way things progressed, the way seme changed for the sake of uke, as he overcame his fears and learned to love, the way uke learned to treasure himself, everything I absolutely loved it.

Yes or I would say the seme here in potn are cruller since Raymond never raped him and he was always caring and showering him with love and affection from the beginning. But he had a goal and have lived his hole life to achieve that goal. He was consumed in it, that made him use everything that benefits him. Yes it was very cruel but thinking about the world they lived in, it was not strange.
A cruel world where power, status, money controls ur life. U have no voice of ur own and people being sold as slaves like ā¦. Yeah if we was surrounded by nobles with their own motives and hunger for more success I would go crazy myself, but in the end the story was well written and Iām glad he was never violent towards Ian and he never led Ian to believe that he had a chance with Raymond, but Ray was selfish indeed and I felt hurt many times
Yes I agree with you. I love it more then potn, uwu Iām sorry. But itās rare to find manhwas with such an amazing plot, and where the plot is in focus. Like itās not much s3x compared to this one. But I prefer plot over s3x, I like intimacy!!! In yaoi but I donāt need to see it all the time

Personally I love potn more (the plot is rather slow but I'm biased to this one(ā§āā¦)) but yes the way the author focuses at the plot is great. Painter behind the curtain is one yaoi that is super underrated, it's one of the few gems in yaoi where the seme has such a touching story and development and ofc the uke too, everything out there is beautifully done. I specially love the fact that seme gave up everything for ian and they lived together in a rather countryside place that was the best ending ever.
Hmm I have now reread the hole series and seen more views, tried to understand both parties and not siding with only one of them. I would say Kagami and Shingo, we canāt compare them to each other since theyāre too different and have their own personality. Kagami is more ācold-heartedā and u can see how ācoldā he is to his brother and the other dude that tries to get close to him. They even told him that he has an awful personality (ā§āā¦)
But he acts so different when it comes to shingo, he spoils him, and we can se how much he loves him again and again and chases after him through the series form Book 1 until now and later on.
Both parties are to blame for they donāt communicate properly with each other and they are hurting each other. I felt really bad for Kagami in this book, I could see how hurt he was and he didnāt cheat, he said that both times when Shingo asked him and said that he could NEVER, like he pointed it out very clearly both times, but that was not enough for Shingo (he didnāt believe it)
This time it lies more in Shingo who donāt trust him enough and are insecure. And the explanation that Shingo canāt smell his scent anymore is cause he is insecure and afraid since Kagami is still emitting the scent that he always has from the begging. He said he could still smell Shingos sweet smell and that his love and desire hasnāt faded or changed at all ! Kagami eyes was red after Shingo told him the night that he couldnāt smell him. We never see him cry but he still gets as hurt as any other person
And he bought a idk how expensive ring to him, but u could never find that one in the world if u tired. It was especially made for his beloved Shingo.
And Kagami canāt always be the one who caches, and show the love. It has to be 2 to tango, both has to show and put effort in the relationship for it to work.
