Now that I've caught up to the manhwa chapters, I will say that the comic doesn't quite capture the creeping horror of the abyss the way ocelot does, but I think it does make Lee Hyunmook seem crazier when he's not lucid. I'm liking this adaptation so far, but I do highly recommend checking out the novel for more building out of the world here. Everyone's missing the panic of Yohan's leg injury getting gradually worse before they make it to the pharmacy, the oppressive atomposthere of this place where you can't even breathe without becoming more corrupted, and the unfathomable creatures that you know in your gut shouldn't exist but threaten to make you one of them. The body horror and desolation are so important to making this story stand out, and it's the key to the themes of hope and survival

Oh my god oh my god oh my god it's got a manhwa???? Guys you don't understand I read this novel months ago and I haven't stopped thinking about it, it's so good T^T I really hope it does the visuals justice!

Why is this so badly composed XD the introduction of that gun in chapter 83 was legitimately so confusing? It was straight up unclear to me who was holding the gun when it was being described, how it got into the room, and who shot the heartless with it when it happened. Like guys why were we so adverse to showing a sequence of cause and effect. I'm sure the novel explains something like guy with the cane gives it to Guk or Guk was hiding it on his person and dropped his axe to use it, but I was fully taken out of my reading experience when I saw those panels because I had absolutely no idea what was going on. At least MC is kind of undergoing some detwinkification, but the fact that he got no real interaction with the people he wanted revenge on was wildly disappointing

Oh so you admit that he's both top of his class and that he used to work a bunch of part time jobs because he's that broke? Gee it's almost like he's both the most qualified for a scholarship AND the most in need of aid. "Some of us are busting our asses over here" YEAH LIKE THE GUY WHO GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP??

The art? A 6/10. The story? Barely coherent. The worldbuilding? At times even less so. Truly I've never seen a manhwa build a world that so strongly gives off the vibe that it's unique while actually being kind of shallowly thought out. Like what do you mean you're in an energy crisis that has simeltaneously led to a boom in renewable power while energy restrictions are being imposed because of its scarcity? All while your common supernatural threat is afraid of light? Also it's been years since people started having their brains melt them into psychopaths and we still don't really know how it happened or how people get infected? (I haven't read the novel, so maybe they explain it there, but the manhwa I just read squares none of this)

And yet I can't stop reading. I think it's because I find he main character to be really fun with how he's both really cool and really cringe. I think the relationship between our two leads has developed kind of weirdly, but like the readers of the in universe novel, they've kind of grown on me despite how much I can tell I would dislike the ML in real life. Also, as of chapter 80, the main character actually seems kind of hot now? Competence is truly the sexiest outfit a man can wear

I love that no matter how serious or dramatic the action in this series gets, I can always count on the comments here to still be talking about getting Han Maru pregnant

I'm on chapter 34, and I can I just say. Ive never felt so called out. Why is Dowon literally me when reading smut. Like he's into it and it's hot even if it's unrealistic but then they do something like make a historical inaccuracy and it's like oh :/ I wanted my porn immersive :/ and then the end where he was like "it started out strong but they cited my favorite kink in the title and they barely even featured it. What was even the point" Dowon you're so real for this T^T

Oooh I forgot how bad the rape apologia can get. Like literally man got raped and then HE apologized to his RAPIST because he "cornered him" and "made him do all of that" also perhaps this is just me but there is no bigger turn off than a man who can't keep his space clean. A little disorganization? Totally normal. But outright leaving trash on the floor and letting it stink the place up? And they'll only clean up because someone else told them to or is helping them clean??? Absolutely not, the hottest man alive could not make me think he was attractive if his room looks like a landfill

"I've gotta make the antidote as soon as possible" was quite possibly the funniest line in the series
