I don't think it's that exaggerated.. For what I know, Yu Ling is only a year or two younger than them. So basically, since Wei Chen and the others are in senior year, Yu Ling is probably a Freshman or a Sophomore.

she was in her last year of middle school when they were in 11th grade. the age difference is only 2. since middle school is years 7-9 and high school is 10-12. and shes now in her first year of high school, while her brother is in his last year.
