As a defence, Akino did not see Meguro as useful; he was comfortable around him bc he liked him from the start, however, he was thinking he's straight so he couldn't name it. So he couldn't name the feelings he held towards Meguro and he tried to go into relationships which resembles like Meguro and his'.
