Since jinwoo and his mother are seemingly a low income family, his mother finds it hard to accept Jinwoo pursuing his dream of working in the film industry instead of a financially stable career. Jinwoo is aware of this and (I think) has a mix of guilt and slight resentment towards his mother about it.
She resents him for chosing lighting as a major instead of chosing something more lucrative after he was a good student his whole life and could have chosen skmething that was going to get them out of poverty.
