Honestly might drop this, the dads to possessive after treating her horribly. Like the story kinda just brushing off the neglect because oh he secretly cares for her??? Stoping her from dating?? Like man let her make her own decisions without you scaring of people. Actions speak lorded than words and until he makes his actions clear ima drop this
ohh lemme explain a bit: (spoilers)
so basically he has to secretly care for his daughter but pretend he hates her and is uninterested so that the king doesn’t use her as a pawn to control the duke. he actually is a possessive father who really cares for her but can’t show his true feelings otherwise she will be in danger. like the knife in the beginning wasn’t to kill herself but to protect herself from others
SPOILER
you are correct about him remembering but the max part is wrong. regis asked max to rescue juvel in her first life but obviously juvel misunderstood and ended up killing herself. the reason he doesn't want max near her is bc he thinks max is only using her since max isn't a 'good person' in regis's eyes. he only sees him as a tyrant prince who uses others for his own gain. and also the fact that he's from the imperial family makes it worse. if you want more spoilers check out my homepage and go to 'my favorites' i posted a bunch on this story. enjoy!! I responded to another comment but wanted to make my own cuz I’m so sad about this. I was reading and was thinking wow this is so refreshing. MC with glasses, interesting art style at times, ML who is super devoted from the get go?!?! Art style never seen again past the first chapter, THEY THROW AWAY THE GLASSES IN THE 17TH CHAPTER IN A OHHH WOW UR SO PRETTY WITHOUT THEM HOW DID WE NEVER KNOW!! And man still devoted but COME ON! Like is it so hard to ask for there not to be a stupid plot line like that? Anyways, it was interesting and fun characters till that but had to drop it since if they do that stupid trope what’s next would just make me more mad
Well then again the glasses have distortion magic so their "we never know" is adjusted. But I do agree that glasses and curly hair = ugly trope is too mainstream and bit lazy writing
Glad to hear it was the magic bit but still I was enjoying the facial expressions with the glasses and when you couldn’t see the eyes
