I feel like because it is from the characters pov, both mc and ml, this is why the plot is all over the place. The death was vaguely written, which was nice, in my opinion. Because it gives off unreliable narration vibes for me. Also, Chaehon bribing someone to act as narye was fucked up to the core. Well the ML is fucked up to be honest, he just knew how to done things in order to gain the MC's love and trust.

So my caffinated brain overthinks that what if the people who were supposed to be mates were people who have eaten the herb that helps the dragon in their mating, because they have eaten, essentially they have absorb the properties of the plant into their bloodstream.
